As I pointed out earlier this week, the run defense had been pretty good, except for six plays that made up 37% of the yards given up. On 2/3rds of the run plays they had defensed they had held to 4 yds are less.
They prevented the big play, and that was huge.

I really like DietTab a ton. LOVE the story. LOVE that he not only has a great story, but is committed to the program and on the majority of plays makes our defense better from the Mike spot. However, he simply has to be more consistent in gap responsibility going forward - if SU is going to win four more games (or more).
As for defensive line as a whole, it is so nice to finally have 290lb+ athletes playing the tackle positions. And almost more importantly, we finally have depth with the same size and athleticism (although a bit less experience). The interior play last night was outstanding. Not sure what was going on with Pitt's offensive line. Would like to think that it was just our defensive line being so good ...
