3-1, they've done the bare minimum at this point

But ask yourself the question why would have we taken it? Why would we accept that? Answer: because of the results that DINO led as head coach with 1 win last year and a regression under his leadership. This is crazy. We shouldn't be at this point in year 6 under Dino.

Uh, perhaps it’s because we’ve literally NEVER gone 4-0 in the OOC, for as long as it has been 4 games?

A history which predates Dino by quite a bit, back to Coach P’s tenure.

Seems like it’s more of a Syracuse Football thing, than a Dino thing.

Edited to add: So, you’re dinging him for failing to achieve something no other post-Mac coach has, while also completely disregarding the things he HAS achieved that nobody since P has??

Ten win season.
Finishing a season ranked for the first time in nearly 2 decades.
(Bonus - a win over a Top 2 team)

Why so few upperclassmen in the 6th year of a coaches program?
what does Umass have? I think we can all agree that we have good players on defense. So the fact that they are young is a good thing. Your point would be more valid about the offense. But that would hinder your ability to be negative. It is a good thing to have a lot of good young players. Do I wish we had more good upper class players? Sure. But we don't. Most of us live in the real world. Where Umass is not going to be gobbled up by the B1G

15 yard penalty for Unnecessary Shots at UMass

I agree, especially on Babers. I was on his side until the Rutgers game. Specifically I hate the play calling under him. If he is going all in on GS, that is a bold move given his history with Devito. It might work if Shrader can actually throw the ball downfield with some effectiveness. My fear is Dino has fallen in love with what works and will remain extremely predictable going forward. We could very easily see an injury with Tucker or GS if this is how the offense will run.

I hope I am wrong and Dino can evolve and actually develop his QB and the play-calling will become much less predictable.
What is “his history with Devito?”

Yeah but they did win, that’s a game a year ago we would have lost. We couldn’t close out games and hold on to wins.

3-1 is 3-1 and many, many of us would have taken that back in June if you told us that would be our record at the end of September
Agreed, but I think we thought Rutgers was going to be better than they were. Wish we could redo that game, as I think they're not even close to as talented as Liberty and if we showed the blitz packages we did against Liberty, against Rutgers, we see a different result. That is not a good football team.

Fair enough. I was really focusing more on the regression over the past six years but you make a valid point.

Bingo. Football just isnt a priority up there...

No I think it is, they extended a guy that had the 1 of the best 2 seasons in 20 years and it has backfired on them. Kind of have to live with it for another year or two but Dino ain't dead yet. If he gets 6 wins they ride the storm out another year and if he can't go back to back bowls then I think he's replaced.

I don't think Syracuse football is a priority for a dwindling fanbase who knows pretty much nothing but losing for 20 years. Have to have some consistency. Administration thought Dino could deliver that and it has backfired and they are now left to deal with it. Tough spot to be in.

They stepped up and extended him when he had all the leverage, gambled and lost. It happens but we don't have the booster support to just make mistakes go away. Cash is king

Syracuse is a very difficult spot to be successful contrary to what some may STILL think. It will take a special individual to put a winner out there more years than not

Just win baby. And all will be fine.

And, the students seem to be really into it.

Covid that's why.

Last years Jrs and Redshirt Juniors who should be seniors this year under normal conditions. And there are 19 sophomores who should be juniors. Instead they're still juniors and sophomores. This all led to a very small senior class. That's actually a good thing.
