rest of the way is AQ. that is a wide gap. the previous 2 years the gap was less than 20 yards. 2009 they were 2-8 even though there wasn't a huge gap (turnovers...) last year was 5-5 which is better than you'd expect.

but we have to pray for big improvements the rest of the way if they want 2 more wins. they have to make up 80 yards one way or another to get back to within 20 yards of their opponent.

it's only going to get worse after next week even if we somehow win.

over time (multiple seasons) i think looking at yards ends up working out to predict pretty well

Can we get 2 wins? Right now that is my hope/concern. If we can find 2, I'll be happy at this point. Three and I'll be ecstatic. That will set us up for a repeat of last year's record with a crappy bowl win, which at this point would seem like a successful season.

Ville, UConn, Pitt best options
Hope USF has a brain fart
Cincy, WVU would take a lot and a little luck

That Rutgers loss was crushing -- odds are they are going to be 3-0 in BE play after this weekend :bang: while we will be 0-2 :bang:

No, I really won't be happy unless they get 3 more wins. UCONN & Louisville are likely. Then, they have to win one of WVU, Cincy, USF, or Pitt. Pitt now looks beatable after losing to the snookies. And, I think USF's QB is really vulnerable to getting rattled. Not out of the question.

Uconn has an avg -110 yard differential in AQ games (WVU will do that to you - vandy and iowa st are the others)... their offense is horrible.

Louisville is like us last year. Horrendous offense, but good defense. 300 for, 277 against (just kentucky and north carolina)

those two games are going to horrible to watch yet again

cincy gains a lot, gives up a lot

usf, who the hell knows what you get, stats mean nothing when BJ daniels is your QB.

Just for poops and grins what are our numbers vs non AQ schools?

Lville and UCONN couldboth be 10-6 games and most likely will, if our defense plays well...

I don't know what to think as Syracuse hasn't played one 4 quarter game yet, if they playe a few 4 quater games, then ye I can see a few more wins, if they play a Tulane game, we will not win another game. Can we play more consistently? We can hang in with almost any of these teams if we do, these aren't world beaters. WVU we need to score points to stay in it... If we get down early though, look out but WVU isn't a complete team just yet.

I know they played LSU tough for the most part minues the turnovers but weird things happen all the time

I hear where you're coming from, but just haven't seen enough from us to think any game on the schedule is a likely win. We've yet to play well for 4 quarters, and I think every team on our schedule is capable of taking advantage of that in the way that Buttgers did.

Hopefully the return of our D starters will be enough of a boost.

bcs non aq 361 for, 454 against (gulp - toledo and tulane)

include URI, 359 for, 391 against

we have a 30+ yard gap against FCS and non BCS teams. partially thanks to kobena, but come on!

giving up 300 in the air to tulane and toledo doesn't bode well for next friday...

I wasn't aware that Navy (Rutgers' opponent this week) had already joined the BE.

While the yardage deficit is not optimal, I'm not sure we "have" to do anything other than find ways to be opportunistic and outscore the opponent. We should have won the Rutgers game with the yardage disparity that we had, but we couldn't put the ball through the uprights.

turnovers and special teams are the only way to score without moving the ball. gives you a punchers chance but over time punchers chance type guys don't have the best records.

Thanks. Assumed it would be about the same descrepency just gained more and gave up more.

As you stated, Kobenas 149 return yards vs Tulane make it look worse but if it was or 3rd quarter offense we wouldnt have gained any of that 149 anyway.
