35 sacks, most in FBS

Those 2 stats tell me that this team is simply not well coached and very undisciplined.

Without all the penalties, we actually have a shot to win at both NC State and Pitt.

Good thing we bunker down in the off-season and don’t let our coaches speak to the media. Wouldn’t want all our opponents to steal these juicy trade secrets we’ve discovered and all these innovations we’re pioneering. We get to catch everyone by surprise!!

If a QB is taking sacks he doesn't have to, to pad his stat line, why would that QB think that his o-line who are getting yelled at nonstop because of their stats would do their best work for him?

Are you saying TD is taking sacks to pad his stat line? Get outta here lmao
I call it the way I see it. Tired of the o-line getting thrown under the bus.

Wait what? I had to read that three times. I think TD is taking sacks because his football IQ is low... not because he wants to

its borderline dysfunctional. Off the top of my head, huge dropped passes, missing wide open receivers for TDs, the constant false starts when we aren't even going fast, the whole offense is a mess. Throw in an AA kicker who looks terrible, and AA safety who goes for the pick instead of breaking up the pass last night, just a mess all over. Pitt once rushed standard 4, our tackle decided to double the inside guy and the DE just blasted our qb, this is pop Warner level stuff. Everything including our entire coaching staff, is a hot pile.

You continue to prove how little you know about football. No qb alive takes the beating Romney has just to up their stats.

I do think it’s fair to at least say that TD holds the ball way too long in some situations, even before he was hurt. He doesn’t recognize what’s happening on the field very well on many plays. He missed open WR’s, etc. Welch showed that even with a horrendous line the ball can leave the QB’s hand before he’s sacked. The safety TD almost took is a great example. Bad situation, he had time to throw, almost made a throw then didn’t, then decided to leave the pocket and almost didn’t make it out of the end zone. You’ve gotta just throw that ball, even if it’s incomplete or out of bounds. He knows he gets sacked a lot but in that situation still didn’t recognize he couldn’t hold on to the ball.

Now don’t jump to conclusions, as I can guarantee some will anyway. This Oline is Grob bad, maybe worse. I don’t know. So any QB is going to die back there but some of those sacks could be minimized by a QB who sees the field better. Welch isn’t the QB but he at least shows that awareness is more important than arm strength.

I’ve said it a bunch of times this year. It’s possible TD is more Rex grossman/Jay cutler than drew brees. People are wowed by his arm just like the NFL was with cutler when he came out of college.

You know how I know the offensive line is terrible even if you believe a bunch of those sacks are because DeVito hangs on to the ball?

Because we can't run the ball at all. At all. And we have guys in Neal and Adams that could do that before, and can't now.

Agreed. But to suggest as that Einstein poster did, that somehow he was doing it on purpose...just "to pad his stat line", is just flat-out stupid. Let's call a spade a spade, ffs.

This has to rank as one of the most ill-informed & moronic posts ever recorded in the annals of this forum.
Congrats.
When a QB runs out of bounds short of the line of scrimmage, that counts as a sack. How many have there been? Too many.

shell shocked was a term coined in World War I to describe the type of posttraumatic stress disorder many soldiers were afflicted with during the war. It is a reaction to the intensity of the bombardment.
perhaps DeVito is showing early signs of Post Traumatic Sack Disorder. he's sack shocked.
