35 sacks, most in FBS

I'd really like to see Bergeron start over Ryan Alexander. Alexander has been awful and he's a grad transfer. Let Bergeron develop and he can't play any worse than Alexander has. We've given him 7 games to prove he's a solid RT and he has not done so. If the line is going to stink it might as well be a learning experience and develop the future guys.

Servais can't be center next year at his weight, that much is also clear.

TD reminds me of NFL David Carr...He has been hit so much he doesn't know what to do anymore...

This is the worst offensive line in Syracuse History. And probably the worst in P5 right now.
That might be generous.

It might be the worst offensive line in P5 in the last 15 years according to the David Hale tweet.

According to Syracuse.com "The Orange became just the second team in the last 15 years to allow eight-plus sacks in three straight Power-Five games, according to ESPN.com’s David Hale. SMU is the other program, and the Mustangs went on to finish 1-11 in 2014."

When a QB runs out of bounds short of the line of scrimmage, that counts as a sack. How many have there been? Too many.
The problem w/ your analysis is not that it lacks validity. Yes, DeVito has taken way too many sacks via intentional grounding, not moving in the pocket, and wilting under the pass rush. All true.
Where your POV goes from the sublime to the ridiculous is when you make the unfounded suggestion that he’s somehow doing those things for the sole aim of padding his stats, whatever that means.
If you can’t see how unfounded, irrational, and yes, how stupid that POV is, then I rest my case.

i wouldn't confuse "padding stats" with not turning over the ball. he's clearly been coached to eat it or heave it OOB if he sees nothing. he's not forcing throws into coverage. he's also probably not seeing the whole field.

It is not just the sacks either. We have no running game they have no idea what to do in both aspects of the offense. Adams in Oklahoma as a Freshman and Sophmore averaged over 5 yards a carry so the talent is there no question about that but here he sucks and is running for his life just to make a couple of yards every play.

The OP in question has a LONG history of posting ridiculous stuff like this IMO to incite a reaction in others.

The intent is to antagonize. The reaction should be to not get sucked in.

short yardage guy. not going to avg. a ton of yds when your main purpose is punching it in on the goal line.

If a QB is taking sacks he doesn't have to, to pad his stat line, why would that QB think that his o-line who are getting yelled at nonstop because of their stats would do their best work for him?

I was talking about Adams not Howard.

I do think it’s fair to at least say that TD holds the ball way too long in some situations, even before he was hurt. He doesn’t recognize what’s happening on the field very well on many plays. He missed open WR’s, etc. Welch showed that even with a horrendous line the ball can leave the QB’s hand before he’s sacked. The safety TD almost took is a great example. Bad situation, he had time to throw, almost made a throw then didn’t, then decided to leave the pocket and almost didn’t make it out of the end zone. You’ve gotta just throw that ball, even if it’s incomplete or out of bounds. He knows he gets sacked a lot but in that situation still didn’t recognize he couldn’t hold on to the ball.

Now don’t jump to conclusions, as I can guarantee some will anyway. This Oline is Grob bad, maybe worse. I don’t know. So any QB is going to die back there but some of those sacks could be minimized by a QB who sees the field better. Welch isn’t the QB but he at least shows that awareness is more important than arm strength.

I’ve said it a bunch of times this year. It’s possible TD is more Rex grossman/Jay cutler than drew brees. People are wowed by his arm just like the NFL was with cutler when he came out of college.
Welsh completed 42%. Maybe he should have held on a bit longer

Agreed. But to suggest as that Einstein poster did, that somehow he was doing it on purpose...just "to pad his stat line", is just flat-out stupid. Let's call a spade a spade, ffs.

Oh def, that’s just crazy talk.
