when it really comes down to it- we just dont have the threats from deep to be elite without james. in 03 , percentages aside- we had good shooters and one who could change a game completely. There is no room to operate in the paint because there is not a big threat to bomb from the outside. its remarkable we have been as successful as we have without a consistant threat since james has been out. college hoops is so much about the 3 pt shot anymore that without multiple shooters you are at a sizeable disadvantage. last year we were at least mediocre. in 09 and 03 we had major weapons from 3.. this year its just ugly watching brick after airball after brick. im proud of this teams fight and what they have done so far given the flaws. If js comes back and can do so with a clear record and an ability to re- focus we can get right back in the mix but that said we will need him to be a consistant threat again.
