4/18 for 39 yards

It is a bit strange that Filardi was the one who got the nod when Carney was ahead of him on the depth chart previously, but I suspect it may have a little to do with how Carney’s camp may be addressing his situation with redshirting etc. Fran had made comments in interviews about going with the kids that want to play. If that was not about Carney, then I don’t know who that was about. So he hinted at it for everybody but didn’t come out and exactly spell it out for everybody what the situation is and I’m fine with that. But it’s possible I’m wrong on that as I have no inside info.

But all this talk about Fran playing somebody who is worse at QB over another QB, intentionally to say I told you so, is just BS. I realize everyone is frustrated but come on man. Fran wants to win just like everybody else, if not more. He isn’t risking wins or losing the team and coaches by not trying to win. That’s just dumb.

Every single poster said Rickie doesn’t have it and we need to go with someone else. Fran said Rickie was our best shot at winning and appears to have been telling the truth when most didn’t believe it. After 4 straight L’s, Fran finally said enough is enough and made the change too to see what we have in somebody else. He went with Filardi and he isnt exactly a typical walk on. He was probably the best player in NY. He is a scholarship lacrosse player and could have gotten football scholarships at other schools for football if that was the route he wanted to go. For recruiting, he was focused mostly on playing lacrosse in college as he is a better shot at being a success in that sport. So colleges were not recruiting him for football all that hard. Yes Carney was ahead of him on the depth chart.who knows, Maybe partly because he was a scholarship player, but really I bet they haven’t looked that different in practice. Fran said of Filardi, he may end up being the best of the freshman bunch, and that still could be true for all we know.

Carney and Filardi are both true freshman QB’s. They aren’t supposed to be playing right now. They obviously are not ready yet, that isn't exactly unexpected. No idea if Jakhari is healthy or not at the moment but I believe it been reported that he’s been injured for some portion of the time. We have seen Rickie passing and it wasn’t great. Carney has gotten a little time in previous weeks and wasn’t allowed to pass much at all and that continued this week in very limited snaps. If his passing game right now is worse than Rickie, that makes some sense I guess. Fran has said Filardi has a stronger arm and I believe maybe said throws a better ball. So weather that is true or not, carneys passing game prowess right now Is is probably not all that much different than Filardis, and you saw what he did. plus in the limited snaps Carney has played i don’t remember them being for sure passing situations.

I do find it a bit strange that you bring Carney in the game in the second half in relief and then go back to Filardi without seeing carney even throw a pass.

Our starter that was doing pretty well got hurt. Our second stringer didn’t pan out. Our small true frosh QB’s are not ready. We are in a bad spot at QB at the moment. Just because you haven’t seen Carney’s passing skills in a a game, doesn’t mean this is some deceitful big cover up story.

Not that it would make those dreadful numbers good but it should've been 5/18 for about 70 yards. That last 4th down deep pass was a catch inbounds. It's ridiculous they use replay and still get it wrong.

Why isn't Nunzio catching more heat here? His sole job is to prep QBs to play and it's been a complete disaster.
Because if we give him heat, the Gambino’s will come down on us? Otherwise I don’t know. The Oline is hideous too. Williams deserves heat as well. Makes me nostalgic for Joe Adam..

So WVU plays a freshmen QB and on the road against a ranked Houston team. He goes 13/22 157 1 TD, rushes 10 times for 65 yards and 2 TD's, and oh they win 45-35. Why can't we have this in a back-up. .

think folks are HEAVILY underestimating the system impact on our back up QB situation. bet rickie and even some of our fresh could go into a heavy RPO system and look a lot better. Nixon isn't adjusting his system very much for the massive drop off. Honestly I'm glad we're seeing this in a year where we expected to be average against a tough schedule because it's going to be hard to have a McCord/Angeli/XYZ type every year. We're seeing the limitations of Nixon as an OC in the college game without a really high end QB.

I sat in the dome and watched that tonight. In 2025. Absolutely disgraceful what this staff put on the field tonight.

And to have 1 QB throw the ball. A lacrosse player at that.

It’s beyond ridiculous and this is not an overreaction. I cannot believe what I saw.

What the absolute hell was done at practice all week?
Thank you for your service. At least I got to turn the game off and watch a movie in the 3rd quarter.

It was his first game so I think we can give him a 2nd chance. But if he starts I think Collins should be QB2.

If Carney doesn’t start he shouldn’t play again until BC. Kid hasn’t been given a fair shot and has been used in garbage mins thus far.
Carney hasn’t been given a fair shot? You don’t think he’s been given a fair shot in practice? Truth is he’s not as good as Filardi. If he was he would play more. Period.

Don't worry, the coaches will tell you that none of the QBs know the playbook, that seems to be the standard answer these days. I guess the QBs play table tennis in practice instead of learning the playbook.
Yep. These coaches are full of a lot of magical talk. Probably not a good idea to believe everything they say.

Do you think filardi is better than Collins
