Nahhh, this assumes the staff is always correct in their evaluations. And we know every staff, even the great ones, make mistakes.Carney hasn’t been given a fair shot? You don’t think he’s been given a fair shot in practice? Truth is he’s not as good as Filardi. If he was he would play more. Period.
Why isn't Nunzio catching more heat here? His sole job is to prep QBs to play and it's been a complete disaster.
After what we have seen from the 2 players who have started games after Steve went down this staff knows nothing about who is a good QB.Nahhh, this assumes the staff is always correct in their evaluations. And we know every staff, even the great ones, make mistakes.
It’s entirely possible they’ve whiffed on playing who will perform the best in a game because they’re misevaluating practice performance.
I'd play roulette.I’d play Carney and let him throw the ball.
I can't remember if we got a broadcast of the spring game, but I assume he threw the ball. It was all backups because Collins at the time sat out.I don’t follow the off-season all that closely but didn't Carney get a lot of snaps in the Spring game? Did he throw passes in that game?
I could be totally wrong, but I thought some folks here were high on him after the spring. Or was that Williams?
Do you think Maybe Nixon didn't want Rickie starting and Fran overruled him. And that's why when Luke comes in all Nixon does is hand off to the running backs. If the HC and OC are butting heads, not a good thing.I can't remember if we got a broadcast of the spring game, but I assume he threw the ball. It was all backups because Collins at the time sat out.
Really? Why don’t you tell all of us which College Football teams wouldn’t be affected by losing their starting QB?I mean whose fault is that?
The one you should be frustrated at is Jeff not Fran. Jeffs been making the call on the QB.Do you really think he is empowered to make decisions?
Last week after Fran mentioned we would see more than one QB this week someone asked Nunz who was going to start. He responded with “that’s not for me to say”. He didn’t say “you’ll see Friday night” or “a decision hasn’t been made yet”. His response tells me, even though he’s the QB coach, he is not the one deciding who plays. Makes me wonder if he agrees with the decisions that have been made.
Last night was bad in so many ways (bad for the QB’s, bad for the WRs who can’t get a ball thrown to them), but it was also bad for Nunz cause people will ask why he doesn’t have the QB’s ready to play. His reputation as a QB coach will take a hit. Regardless of what Fran may say, it doesn’t look like Fran trusts Nunz (or any of his assistants). I’ll be surprised if Nunz is back after the season.
Have it backwards. Jeff likes to throw the ball. Rickie is best pure thrower.Do you think Maybe Nixon didn't want Rickie starting and Fran overruled him. And that's why when Luke comes in all Nixon does is hand off to the running backs. If the HC and OC are butting heads, not a good thing.
But Rickie can't hit the broadside of a barn and Nixon knew it in the spring, enter Steve.Have it backwards. Jeff likes to throw the ball. Rickie is best pure thrower.
rickie is still somehow the best because filardi and luke can’t throw eitherBut Rickie can't hit the broadside of a barn and Nixon knew it in the spring, enter Steve.

Right. But when Angeli went down Rickie was the next best option. They were hoping Rickie wouldn’t be forced to play much this year. They lost that bet.But Rickie can't hit the broadside of a barn and Nixon knew it in the spring, enter Steve.
Then he shouldn’t have played vs Pitt nor UNC.Carney hasn’t been given a fair shot? You don’t think he’s been given a fair shot in practice? Truth is he’s not as good as Filardi. If he was he would play more. Period.
Almost every football team in the history of the sport takes a step back when their starting QB gets injured. Thats just a given. There’s no way to avoid that. The size of the step back is directly correlated with the quality of that teams coaching.Really? Like the Baltimore Ravens, right?Almost every football team in the history of the sport takes a step back when their starting QB gets injured. Thats just a given. There’s no way to avoid that. The size of the step back is directly correlated with the quality of that teams coaching.
Losing your starting QB should never result in the team being completely and utterly dysfunctional beyond comprehension.
They’re the NFL equivalent of us in that regard this season.Like the Baltimore Ravens, right?
Good lord.Like the Baltimore Ravens,right?
Get off our board, Javon!Like the Baltimore Ravens, right?
I probably would’ve gotten a better backup, but that’s just me.
Nixon is overrated his run plays are so unimaginative is ridiculous. 98 percent of the time straight up the middle. I’m sick in tired of college footballs offenses. Everidors the same thingthink folks are HEAVILY underestimating the system impact on our back up QB situation. bet rickie and even some of our fresh could go into a heavy RPO system and look a lot better. Nixon isn't adjusting his system very much for the massive drop off. Honestly I'm glad we're seeing this in a year where we expected to be average against a tough schedule because it's going to be hard to have a McCord/Angeli/XYZ type every year. We're seeing the limitations of Nixon as an OC in the college game without a really high end QB.
