Maybe this has been discussed on the board already and I missed it (if so, sorry)...

Cuse outrebounded 43 to 26? Roberson and Coleman combine for 45 minutes and only 5 boards, i.e., 1 every 9 minutes? Seriously? Geez!

Rebounding was atrocious today.
We got very few second chances on offense today.

Roberson was very aggressive the first 4 or 5 minutes...I'm not sure what happened after that

I wonder if that's another function of asking guys like Roberson and Coleman to set picks outside the 3 point line. If Roberson's main job, based on Jimmy's comments this year, is to get rebounds, why hamper that effort by asking him to get 20 feet from the basket.

I've had that same thought/question myself when I see Coleman/Roberson way out there as well.
Also hard to score in the paint when the big men aren't in the paint.

Again, I'm really just wondering on that one. Maybe the design is to have Roberson out there because sometimes it is easier to get one of Cooney's misses when Roberson's coming in from the outside as opposed to being set up somewhere inside. I don't know what the offense is really designed to do this year.

That sure doesn't explain defensive rebounding.

Fair enough as well. I saw him contest one 3 pointer out at the top of the key today. Hard to rebound from there.

Could also be that he looks to run whenever he thinks the ball isn't coming to his side. I'm going to have to keep an eye on that next game (and Lord I hope the game after that).

cooney is taking a beating on the board, but roberson has been atrocious for like a month+.

Roberson, coleman, cooney and howard are all below average players. Coleman and howard have excuses. Roberson and cooney do not.

I think the main problem with Roberson, especially on the offensive end, is that no one can figure out what his role is. At least as far as I can tell. But you're right, he's been pretty bad for too many weeks now. His game wasn't awful today, but it wasn't even really good.

Sometimes it's just effort, fundamentals.

But other times it's facing a team that's taller and more athletic.

FSU is the latter.

i would say that a fair assessment of roberson is that he is not big enough for his skillset. he is basically the same size as richardson.

Fsu played like their season was on the line, our guys didn't.

I followed the entire affair via live stats. Sometimes it's a blessing to not have a live feed, it seems.

We have some tall players, but we're not overly athletic.

Kinda odd, too. We recruit long, but this team doesn't jump or rebound well.

Gbinije is probably our most athletic player.

Everyone else is limited athletically.

Were they that when we outrebounded them at the Dome?

I repeat, sometimes it's effort, and we shot the lights out that night.

I hope I'm wrong but this team looks spent.

I think you're right. It's interesting, someone in the post game PC asked JB if he thought our team could win multiple games in consecutive games because of our lack of depth -- JB brought up Atlantis. While I see JB's point, that was 5 games into the season, not 30. I really hope JB doesn't think it's the same...

  • I think, he thinks, it does. He never develops a bench and every year we see dead legs but he doesn't. This, I believe, plays into the notion that Syracuse under performs in the Tournament too frequently.

No idea where that notion comes from lately -- 2 of our last 3 tournament appearences we made it to the Elite 8 and Final Four
