If I remember correctly, it was his to wear if he wanted it while being recruited? I believe he said he wanted to be his own guy and not have to carry the weight of the legacy. I might be all wet.

Casual sports fans in Syracuse love events like the Crunch outdoor/dome games, breaking the attendance record in hoops, etc.

This is a chance to sellout your home opener next season along with increasing your season ticket holder base with the #44 returning and Purdue and Notre Dame coming to the dome.

I think I am buying a Tucker jersey shirt from Mannys and some navy duct tape from Home Depot. I use the duct tape to put a 4 over the 3 for the Pitt game. Would be something if a bunch of us did this to support Tucker $ and the 44 movement.

university isn’t the brightest bulb and would probably think you want to bring back duct tape grey as an official color.

He's only two years out of high school. He can't go to the NFL until after next season.

No announce it during Spring practice. Buy billboards in NYC and LA
Promote the heck out of it.

Better yet, announce it the week before the Pitt game. That way he can benefit through the holiday season, bowl game and the entire time leading up to spring practice.

I really think it would create a huge buzz around the program which should help recruiting.

Giving Tucker 44 is an absolute no brainer. That said, I have zero confidence it will happen due to all the politics involved. I doubt the university even has a handle yet on what needs to happen to unretire the number. In the meantime I'm all-in on establishing a new tradition around 34 and will happily buy the 34 shirts.

In the remote chance the university finds a way to award him the number he deserves, the 34 shirts become rare collectables. Kind of a "we knew him when" thing.
