I love these old quiz shows that are on You-Tube. On 1/15/62, I've Got a Secret had the world champion free throw shooter, who had made 499 in a row, (at the 10:25 mark):
He missed #500 but went on for another 371 and the officials stopped him because they wanted to go home. He sues a one--handed style here that seems awkward now - and he misses his first shot, (one of three warm up shots they allowed). His shots bounce around the rim before they go in. On 12/11/75, Hal Cohen made 598 in a row, a record that has since been exceeded. Hal, of course, was one of Jim Boeheim's first recruiting class.
