Great, now we get to hear all the talking heads that were p!ssed last week, tell us how going for it this week was stupid.

It was the wrong decision (again). You take the pts from the 3 and give yourself a 7 pt cushion.

So you agreed with not going for it last week?

We should have kicked the FG on the first one. That was idiotic.

Going for the second was not, except for the fact that we should have been up 7 already, so you forced your hand by making the initial stupid decision and going up 10 was never even on the table.

Let me go on record as saying that I love that we went for scores on 4th down.

I don't think the calls were mistakes, and even if they were, the mistake that is aggressive in trying to put more points on the board is the mistakes I can live with.

Two big thumbs up from OIG.

not that upset with going for it.. didnt think the entire set of plays was well thought out especially the second set.

My thoughts exactly - Doug needs to turn this around and stay agressive - talk about playing to win! Love it win or lose.

Those sequences should have been thought out 1000 times before gameday. I don't know, disappointed in both possessions.

It wasn't "stupid" going for it. It certainly wasn't conservative either. It was a coaching decision that has strong impacts with both outcomes.

hearing DM after the game, it sounds like execution mistakes doomed both series.

We shouldn't have been in a position to have to go for it on 4th down both times. We should have been in the end zone well before it had gotten to 4th down.

But they weren't so you must live in reality and the smart play is to kick!

It's a different situation!

You can't compare!

Your taking it the wrong way, literally asking whether you agreed with or didn't agree with the decision last week. The first one last week I think would have been stupid to go for. The 2nd one I thought he should have gone for it but could see his point in not going for it.

Really amazing that people don't know the difference between the 4th down vs rutgirls last year, the 4th and 2 vs USC last week and the 4th downs today. Some called for going for it, some didn't. Situation, ahead or behind, who you are playing, score, etc all make a difference. We made a mistake last year, were wrong vs USC, wrong on the 4th and 3 today but were right on the 4th and 1 today. We're batting .250.

People don't understand you play the situation. You can be aggressive but you can't be stupid! If so why not hire the high school coach who refuses to ever punt! Yeah he is aggressive he is also stupid at times in going for it.

Being a head coach at a major college means a little thinkin on your feet! Making a quick decision and the right one. Especially when its very simple like today's was. Just take the points!

CAN YOU EDUCATE ME, WHY DON'T YOU LIST ALL SEQUENCES YOU HAVE THOUGHT OUT AND WHAT TO DO FOR EACH. I'M SURE IT WILL HELP ME TO BE A BETTER FAN.

Does anyone really think, any of the good and great runners we have had, don't score against that team inside the 10? All 3 of our rb's on the 1987 team score there, carter scores the 2 running backs Smith and PTG, nice players but don't bring enough to the table.PTG will be most effective like Bailey was 2 yrs ago, smith should be a backup, the 4th 1 studerstepped before he hit the hole.

I'm more upset that our line couldn't get us one yard against an FCS team.

What plays we're going to run in goal line situations? Yeah, I think coaches plan those out to the extent they can considering down/distance/score.

Nice caps, could you make the font bigger though?

I love the fact that people are upset we didn't just take the points. In my opinion the points weren't exactly for the taking. When you see 2 missed field goals I think it is natural to try some different things. Not saying they were the most conventional decisions, but that has to play into the decision.

field goals are worth less than 3 from a expected points standpoint (sure you got three, but the other team gets the ball in decent field position which is worth something positive to them)

turning over on downs at the 1 doesn't get you any points of course, but the other teams expected points having the ball on their one is negative.

stony brook couldn't do anything with that field position

take the points is a stupid cliche.

perfect example of people substituting a question they can answer for one they can't. what strategy maximizes your expected points given various probabilities? i don't know substitute question- what strategy maximizes your chance of getting any points? kick

Exactly, had Krautman made the first two FGs or even the second, we kick. I said that to my buddy at the game, it was on the right hash mark, still a high percentage kick not like an extra point. ...but when your FG kicker who makes the two previous kicks 90% of time misses them both, then you make an in game adjustment against a team you are supposed to be able to get 3 yards on. It didn't work out, but I could see the reasoning in the decision.
