Kansas got a bad draw here. Wichita was a three or four seed. Self is going to have to schedule with them now going forward.

I think the committee tried too hard to make this matchup. I think the time has to come for non power 5/6 conferences to be seeded based purely on power rankings (or whatever conferences are below the conf RPI threshold). It's not a perfect solution, nor 100% fair, but the current system comparing teams with limited data is probably worse.

I think the Big 12 was a legit 7 team conference. But they were over seeded because of all the top 50 matchups that was caused because of this. Anytime a conference has a high % of somewhat good, legit toureny teams, the metrics will make them all look better -- and a few them will turn from middle seeded teams to high seeded teams. In this case 4 top 3 seeded teams.
The same thing happened when the Big East was an 11 team league. The Big East was not as good as the seeds they were getting -- most of them top 6... but it still was a legit 9-11 team conference.

Agree. My "uncalibrated Pe-Tourney eyeball" told me that no Big 12 club was worthy of anything higher than a 4 seed.
And the results are playing out that way...
