Extend Dino for five years at 5 million per year. Make the buyout 10 9 8 7 6 million. Worse case Dino leaves and Cuse ends up paying him very little on an annual basis. With him we will continuously be ranked and might just have a shot at the playoffs. The extra million or so a year will come back in spades. This is a slam dunk. Get it done.

Not about the money to Dino. It's about raising the football budget overall and how money Dino has to pay his staff and improve the football program overall. Paying 1 guy isn't the issue.

Good point. I do think that Syracuse is going to make a very strong offer. Lets hope that USC finishes strong as i really dont see any other program that might offer that we cant compete with
Schools in Florida Texas and California are the ones we need to be concerned about. I dont see Dino heading to Maryland or any other Big school such as Purdue. If we had gone bowling last year i think he was gone as there were so many attractive openings.
Go Trojans:)

I think that $ would match market. I’d go higher on the buyout though.

But, as also noted, Syracuse is playing with a different deck of cards than even 6 years ago. They won’t lose Dino bc they’re non competitive financially.

I can think of multiple reasons why Dino’d be here for the long haul. I think JW does everything in his power to make that a reality.

Wildhack is not a dummy. Has spent 30 years in corporate America. Dino is not leaving over money. There are only about 12 programs a sitting P5 coach might leave for. That’s it.
This year has proven we can compete on the biggest stage and with tommy, Abdul and Tristan waiting in wings Dino has to be excited.

Brent Axe, fwiw, said based upon conversations he has had with Wildhack, SU won't lose Dino over money.

That will be the narrative but they will. 5mm per year is not gonna happen.

It would be a HUGE departure for this school to pay at the top for a football coach.

I agree with it being a huge departure. But I think we’ve had a huge departure from what we were. In revenue, in conference now and absolutely with performance.

The national narrative is changing as well. I heard multiple national broadcasters call us a good team yesterday. That wasn’t happening until last week.

You think 3 million more for the next three will work? 1.5 to Dino and 1.5 as a pool for his staff? I gotta believe some big donors are out there and will give to the FB program now that it's obvious Dino has turned this thing around.

Things are happening fast and it’s exciting. Haven’t been this proud of football since 2004 (when we knocked BC out of the BCS). I am really excited about what this team can do. I’m just going chalk on what the school historically has done w resources for football, etc.

At end of day we need to ramp up resources for the football ops to a SEC level if we need to compete financially to keep DIno. I don’t see us doing it. We can bump but we can’t get to a 5mm level and whateverit’ll Cost to keep assistants. This assumes things I can’t predict: is Dino looking for the biggest payday period and is he really looking to leave.

This is a message board so i’ll Speculate but at end of day we will know both soon enough

Next year each ACC school is projected to receive approximately a 10 million per year increase in revenue from the launch of the Network. That is expected to grow within a few years to 15 million in additional revenue. Syracuse currently receives around
26 million and the Athletic Department is currently profitable. At 36 to 41 million per year in revenue not including increases in 4 major tangible areas and 2 major increases in intangible areas.
Nike contract
Stadium sponsorship
Increased ticket/food sales
Apparel sales.

Advertising/pr value
Enrollment/donations

Syracuse will absolutely have the Financial ability to pay what is required to retain Dino and his staff.
The only question is does the current Administration want to take this step.
I believe that they will as they have already committed to a major initiative to remake the infrastructure of the University as well as the Academic prominence. Having Nationally ranked and recognized athletic programs will only enhances and strengthens the other initiatives. There are numerous studies proving that schools that do well athletically see increased applications and donations.
Retaining Dino is a very smart and financially sound decision.

Future donors will remember high profile Cuse Football/Basketball games. Also, I have to believe the existing donors and potential donors wallets are a bit easier to open up when we’re on Cloud 9 watching the two revenue sports putting in work.

Both Adams and Jackson have 2 years right?

I hope you’re right. I wonder if Kent looks at the profit as a way to invest in the academics of the school though? Are we better off ranked 30 nationally academically or spending like Ole Miss in football? I don’t know the answer.. SU football was always about being smarter w resources than being the Yankees

One would hope so but it'll be interesting to see. I still think there is a mindset that ACC money will take care of everything.

You are correct. It is about being and making smart sound investments. Retaining Dino is one of the smartest decisions Kent could make.

You don’t spend over $100 million on updating the Dome and not invest in your football program.

They have invested in the football. Do people realize how much cash they dumped into the football facility, paying for Dino to come initially, additional staffing, private plane etc

The school has done a lot to get to this point. As I stated the next step is to jump into the real disproportionate world of college football spending. Time will tell

He wants to win championships. Prove to him you can do that and I think we can keep him.

I think a couple of things:

He’s proven that we can beat the best of the best when you look st our Clemson games.

I think he might have been a little surprised how loud the dome gets even if not st capacity.

FSU being down helps us tremendously not having to beat two goliaths in our path.

I think these elements are cumulatively more important than $.

Dino is 57 years old I imagine with no inside knowledge the only reason he leaves is to go to a team that can win at National Title. USC would be my best guess. But if USC does fire Helton (which I don't think they will) they would have almost every coach in the country to pick from, including Mike Leach, Brohm, Matt Campbell, and many more.

I think you have to factor in how far behind we were to start. I don’t think there will ever be a day we have a whiffle ball field - but competing with the top teams in our conference by investing smartly is 100% possible.

The more we win, the easier it is for Wildhack to sell the program.

SU isn’t spending $100.

That seems a realistic starting point. I think a $1M increase/year will put him in the top 25 range. About a 30% raise.
