...6'8" from Syracuse University... CARMELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yeah the last play, there was like 5.7 seconds left, what can you do? I would have liked to see him put the ball on the floor and get to the hoop, but Chicago has rim protectors.

I will say, the Knicks played better than I thought they would @Chicago with no JR Smith. I don't think they will be as Kerr said "lucky to get to the second round"

My prediction is they're in the 4/5 first round series, probably against Brooklyn. Whether or not winning that one would be considered lucky, I dunno, but that's kinda what I see right now.

Bargnani is just...not a good defender. Knicks need to figure out how to get some solid minutes at the 5. Amare and Bargs are terrible defenders. And they need to keep Tyson fresh for the playoffs. If we had the Tyson from last night vs Indy we have a very good chance of winning that series

And you dont need to live in NYC to realize that your comment was retarted?!?! He deserves a 5 year max contract.
No need for name calling. And seriously dude go get some fresh air or something good lord.

Btw, I don't know if people realize this, but a 5 year max contract to Melo would make him like the highest paid player in the league, pending what happens with Kobe. 5/129; that's a massive max contract. That will really make it more difficult for the Knicks to add talent around him.

I'm hoping he signs for closer to 18-20 per year, but I'm not holding my breath.

I would gladly take 18 mill especially if you can surround me with talent.

I dont see anything leading me to believe he will leave money on the table. The Knicks will resign him to that contract but will have Amare off the books so while it will eat up more cap space, the knicks will be free of the Amare deadweight. My prediction is that the Knicks will end up with a Kevin Love type player. I guess a frontcourt of Melo, Love, Chandler could contend.

Knicks411, what did you think of Hardaway jr? Gonna have to find room to give him run. I guess we'll go small ball on the second unit with 3 guards and occasionally run Melo at the 4.

I don't expect Melo to leave money on the table either, I'm just saying I'm hoping for that.

But I'm not sure they could get Love and then keep Chandler. Melo's starting salary on the max extension is something like $24 million per year. They do have a couple of player options for that year, JR at around $6 million and Ray around $4.5 million. If those 2 both get picked up (worst case scenario, probably), then you have another $12.5 million committed (plus Prigioni). Then you're probably gonna need to extend Shump, or replace him. I bet he gets at least $8 million per year. So you're sitting at $44 million for just those 5 players, the cap might be $65 million at best.

Now maybe Felton or JR opt out, or both, which would free up some cap space. But Kevin Love is gonna get the max, give or take, which would be in the $18-20 range, I believe. Love, Melo, and Shump are probably eating about $50 million of the cap, give or take, by themselves.

I was surprised he was 4-13, I must have missed some of his misses. I think he can be a rotation guy, and he might provide some 3's. But when JR gets back, you think there will be a lot of minutes for him?

I think the Knicks will go with a starting lineup of Felton, Shump, Melo, Bargs and Chandler. Amare/Kmart will platoon at the 4/5 with Bargs occasionally play Center as well. Artest will back up the 3/4. JR will be sixth man. Prigs back up pg and I think Hardaway jr will play a few minutes a game when we go small in stretches. 11 man rotation. I really wish we could just cut Amare, I cringe whenever he comes in the game. His +/- last night mustve been downright scary.

Woodson better just go with this starting lineup and stick with it until its proven to work or not work. I'll be annoyed if he keeps adjusting our starting lineup depending on who we play that night. Udrih is the wild card although it looks like he will just be the emergency back up pg.

I don't like Bargs getting a ton of minutes. I would rather play Arest (though jesus christ, that shot selection) and Melo at the 3/4. Artest can body up some of the bigger 4's that you don't want Melo on, and can spread the court a little.

I'm pretty irrationally biased against Bargs

Haha, but if Bargs can play like he did in that little stretch, we become a totally different team. He has it in him. I wouldnt mind starting Artest over him but if he's going to shoot like he did last night, I might lose my mind. Our entire team's shot selection was horrid last night. Its definitely going to be a juggling act to get 11 quality players in rotation and define their roles. Especially when outside of Melo, its a bunch of role players.

I'm just terrified of pretty much any defensive lineup without Tyson or Kmart in there. And Kmart isn't a huge defensive presence at 6-8 or whatever

No team with JR Smith will ever win the championship

Knicks can't even get calls against the Timberwolves. Man I swear this team never gets the whistle. Melo is officiated like he's a scrub.

This has no bearing on tonight's game however. This team is awful through 3 games.

Really wish Melo could somehow team up with Lebron. If Melo were the 2nd best player on his team he would be scary good.

He should and will be the best player on his team. Melo and Lebron are not teaming up. Durant looks worse than Melo without Westbrook. Melo needs what every other superstar in the NBA has.. A legit sidekick.

TWolves taking flopping to a whole new level. Kevin Love just put Lebrons flop from the Playoffs two years ago to shame.

Disagree. He needs to be the #2 because as a #1 he does not create enough for the rest of the team.

Not really feelin Woodson. I would hope he's on a short leash this year. His rotations are awful and I'm pretty sure he doesn't know you're allowed to run set plays.
