Shafer: Seamus Shanley earned the starting right guard spot. His consistency and lack of missed assignments pushed him ahead of A. Roberts.

Shafer said he's happy with the progression of his three veteran safeties.

Shafer talks down Winfield starting over Morgan. Reiterates he has five guys who can play.

Shafer expressed confidence in Kendall Moore at tight end. Praised his intelligence and expects him to contribute right away.

Syracuse has posters of the ACC and national championship trophies hanging up in the auditorium.

Shafer speaks highly of freshman QB Eric Dungey's development. He's listed as the co-backup with rSo. Austin Wilson.

Shafer on Seamus Shanley as #1 RG on the Depth Chart: "Played well. Played better than everybody else at that position."

Shafer: "Depth Charts show the pool of players...I would not lose any sleep over who isn't starting."

Shafer on RI: "It's difficult to project games against FCS teams with the influx of transfers...they're kind of fun to watch on tape."

Shafer on Year 3: We want to win the game every day...Knowing that if you improve daily you can start getting to your vision.
