98-68

If one game in November determines that, then we were usually the best team in college basketball from the late 80s to like early 00’s.
Remember those 3 times we won in Maui and won the National Championship. That was awesome!!! It automatically got us past the first weekend!!!!

LOL

Because upsets never happen. Ever.

The better team never loses. Ever.
I wonder what the record is for threes made against us. That Colgate game had to be up there.

I wonder how many teams have lost a game making that many threes. Probably not many

One other thought: The game was 79-84 with 3:58 left. It became a rout with an 2-11 run. A lot went into that. It was 17-2, then 23-19, then 30-19 and we still had the lead until 2:21 left in the half, immediately took it back with a Buddy trey, later tied it again at 43 before Colgate hit a trey for the halftime lead. Colgate extended the lead to 9 points, we got it back to 6, then it was out to 10, then back to 7, they got it out to 11, we got it back to 5 and then the run that ended all doubt. it wasn't pretty and they maintained control of the game but this was a close game until the run at the end. 68-98 is true but so was 17-2.

Our team is the least athletic SU team in my 40+ years watching Syracuse basketball .. we haven’t seen athletes this pedestrian since the post Wallace rock Lloyd team .. having said that .. they are highly skilled as well .. one of the more highly skilled teams we’ve had in terms of shooting.
Those two attributes lend itself to the following
-we can get beat by anyone and badly
-we can beat anyone and badly

This SU teams looks like a typical Notre Dame team, but wearing Orange colored uniforms. ND almost always win a fair amount of their games, but they also almost always have a low ceiling. There is A LOT of basketball to be played and I expect this team to get much more comfortable playing together but I'm really worried about the lack of athleticism that I see on the court, and this is in comparison to 3 not-very-athletic teams. I think we'll handle VCU easily, but I'm worried about Baylor just running past us up and down the court for a ton of uncontested layups and dunks. That is a game that I worry about a large negative differential in athleticism being very obvious.

I will always take a sweet 16... always... nothing in life is guaranteed except death and taxes. But to your point about the ceiling being low (or capped), that's where we've really been recently. Going into the Houston game we knew the experience and most importantly the physicality and athleticism of Houston was going to hurt us, and it did.

We might as well go back to the way we played the 1995-6 zone. Don’t play the wings, let them have open corner 3s and stay home to rebound misses. Beats the crap out of whatever strategy we tried vs Colgate.

Giving open shots this era would be a disaster.
We’re already conceding open shots - might as well stay home and get the rebound

They shot 40% from three, not saying we played good defense because we didn’t, but that 40 can turn to 50 real quick. At the end of the day I think they had only 18 second chance points on 19 offensive boards. Not that great.

Not sure there is a right answer, and that’s what really is the problem

That's a fair comparison. I would say the one thing that's different between SU & ND are the defenses played.

ND, if I recall, plays man and zone and a few other things. SU plays only zone. Which presents more issues than not with the types of players we have.

There were half a dozen times in the 2nd half when Colgate took awful shots and balls bounced all over and they got the rebounds and scored a couple of those were 2-3 possession plays as well. but yeah our rebounding has to get better
