I don't want to make sycophantic excuses for the staff in a year of uneven coaching, but Doug finally got a well-deserved break. USF did to themselves what we have all too often done to ourselves and we took advantage of it to pull off a spectacular comeback (totally ignored by ESPN). Great job everybody.

I have to think that the Fort Drum experience helped this team to comeback in the second half. Since DM is the leader and, the team reflects the character of their leaders, he deserves a large measure of the credit for this team's resolve and character. Good for you Doug, it is the reason that everybody hopes you succeed even the folks who don't like your style of play.

Yes, I know all the negatives: the only team we have beaten with a winning record is Stony Brook; the secondary leaks; we are inconsistent; Nassib is great/sucks; and, DM is a lousy game coach; [add your complaint here]. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed but character is not one of them.

I think we can agree that this team has the talent to have been 6-2 instead of 4-4 at this point and that is both a disappointment and cause for optimism at the same time. Given our SOS the team has done OK even if it did not play to their full potential. The depth of talent is getting better and we have some promising play makers on redshirt and coming in January. The future looks brighter.

I think that we will win at least one more game and, all things considered, 5-7 is enough for a contract renewal. Hopefully, we will be 8-4, err, 9-4.

That said, it does not mean that this team won't drive us nuts over the next 4 games and everyone can reserve their right to bi*ch and moan.
