A closer look at Murray State

First off, congrats to Murray State for going undefeated so far, and achieving such a high ranking.

However, a closer look at that 18-0 record reveals 3 wins over non-D1 teams and only 3 wins vs. the top 100.

Their remaining schedule is rather putrid. They don't have a game vs. anyone in the top 185, and only 3 games vs. teams with RPI's better than 225.

If they go undefeated, they will obviously get a NCAA bid. I think they still get a bid if they lose 1 game. However, their margin of error is very slim. If they lose more than 1 game I don't think they get an at large bid.

Obviously. However, if they lose 1 regular season game and lose in their conference tourney, do you give them a bid?

They became a household name in the college hoops world this year and the media can be pretty darn powerful with a Cinderella story. Even if they lost two, they'd be close to the top-25. I would think it would take 2 regular season losses and a conference tourney loss to put them on the bubble. Other than that, I think they are in. I hope they go into the tournament undefeated though -- that'd be a pretty awesome story to follow.
