I believe in his week 2 presser, Fran made a comment about playing the true freshman now, because it will get them more ready for when they are sophomores.

This comment rubbed me the wrong way. It kind of made it seem he is mailing it in this season and prepping for next season.

Not really, he is just stating that the talent he has been bringing in through high school freshman are a massive upgrade to some players that have been here for years. And while they may be a bit green and others on the team have more experience. He would rather build up the team that is truly "his" team.

Trust me, there is no mailing it in for Coach Fran Brown. But he is going to set up himself up to succeed in the future as well.

agreed, he's not mailing in anything. Team has a ton of work to do after week 1 but Fran is trying to and feels like they can win every game. And exactly why he said his talent is good enough right now to compete. He's putting it on himself and the staff as good head coaches should

I assure you the man does not play for next season. However, if the result is going to be the same right now, you obviously play a high upside freshman vs. a senior who isn't getting it done. That's just reality. If he thought a senior would give him a better chance to win, he'd play that guy. It's just a reality of the roster turnover.

Willis Barely played at all last year - and Fran went wild when he fumbled in the Miami game last year - it was clear he was furious that Laquint was not in in that situation - Fran is gonna play our best players - if they are a toss up it makes sense that the younger player with the upside should play - maybe the upside is is 3 games and not next year

Ehhh that’s not the impression I got from what he was saying. To he was saying they are freshman and inexperienced/green. But if he put them off from playing a year or two. They will still be inexperienced sophomores or juniors. He’s basically saying whether you are a freshman, sophomore or Junior. If you have no playing experience you are inexperienced no matter what class you are in

On the play, Grant was the safety on that side and took 2 steps forward because of the play action to the RB. By the time he realized he needed to get back, it was too late. That's what happens when you're getting gashed in the run game I guess...there were actually only 2 people on TN who actually ran routes on that play. 2 verticals from the 2 outsides WRs, nobody else.

I have never gotten the impression Fran would ever mail anything in. Hes made a lot of comments about his disdain for losing just this week. I think there's some fan hangover sensitivity from Dino. Which I totally get
