- 2 players [Henriquez and Gipson] snared 25 out of KSU's 37 rebounds, including 17--SEVENTEEN-for Henriquez. Wow. We simply have to do a better job on the boards. [Note: the box score linked above lists the rebounding differential as 37-31 in favor of KSU; after the game yesterday, I saw box scores that listed it as 41 - 32].
- As a team, we shot a relatively low number of threes [9] compared to how we've played recently. And we made an unusually high number of them [6]. But glad to see that we didn't fall in love with the three like in recent games, and made a concerted effort to drive / get easier scoring opportunities. Undoubtedly, KSU's insistence on playing aggressive man played right into our hands in that regard.
- According to the box, Kris Joseph had 1 rebound. I actually seem to recall him snaring a few during the game, so it is possible that the box score is wrong, but that simply isn't good enough. We need more from our senior forward.
- Scoop had 8 assists, but an uncharacteristically high 6 turnovers. He's taken care of the ball all year. As a team, we had 14--lucky this wasn't our undoing yesterday, as minimizing turnovers has been a hallmark of how we've played all year.
- Christmas played 34 minutes. Honest. This is the guy who used to get token starts, and was lucky to play more than 3 minutes per half many games. Good to see.
- On the flipside, Keita played only 5 and posted a donut in most statistical categories. He did have 2 blocks, but we need him to rebound to help offset our glaring team deficiency.
- Fair's slump continues. 0-3 from the field, 3-6 from the line. Need to get CJ jump started--he is the type of guy who could carve up a Wisconsin team if he could play in that mid-range area. Need him to regain confidence--fast.
- Waiters scored 18, and was our top offensive player yesterday [with apologies to another fantastic game by Southerland]. And yet, he only took 9 shots, nailed all his free throws, and got every score within the flow of the offense. Didn't gun at all. Kudos to him.
