A few workout numbers...

Too bad that none of the skill guys also compete in track. During my time at SU I remember a few guys running each year, including Ismail who was an AA. SU has a very good sprints coach and I'd bet he'd be able to improve the speed of some of the WR/CB group

I think that laser may need a tune up

That's right, it's all one big lie.

West has had issues with keeping his legs fresh since he's been here. And I think his take off and acceleration isn't great.

Regardless of how precise it shows he isn't some plodder.

Straight line speed is alot different than game speed. I'm just posting the numbers. Take it FWIW.

Thanks for posting this stuff Rocco! I would imagine that most here understand that this is grain of salt time. Any info during the dark time is appreciated.

No worries. I do love the Syracuse.com-esque responses in this thread. Makes you want to post more stuff...

Estime and Morgan are close to those times, if inaccurate. I've never seen Scissum in person so I can't say, but the other two are close.

Btw CIL, Estime's 10 split was 1.46...

Scissum - 4.53
Estime - 4.41
Morgan - 4.35

These are all laser-timed.

Lifting numbers across the board sounded good, too. Speed is definitely up this year.

If Scissum can hit like he can run, watch out. We may have a baller on our hands.

Hopefully they're working on their chemistry with Hunt - learning each others tendencies.

This isn't as easy as some would think. This is another reason we need the IPF done ASAP. The kids really don't have anywhere to be able to consistently practice during the Winter.

if that's true, that is ELITE acceleration my friend. Probably would have been top 1 or 2 at the copmbine this year. I actually believe that number too, because I can't remember the last SU player that went from 0-60 that quickly. I really can't.

I don't think any comment was directed at the messenger. Like someone else said, any info is good. But SU historically has a habit of being wrong about 40 times as well as using much greater inflated heights than many schools.

These numbers are on our notoriously fast track. They tend to be anywhere from .05 to .10 slower than what our guys have run at the combine.
I assume you mean faster?

One other thing... isn't one side of the dome something like 2 degrees higher than the other? Thought that was always an issue is they're running down hill.

If that's true, he has a long 1st gear and shoots straight to 4th after 10 yards...

And Marrone didn't want him, thank heavens that jokster is gone :)

Wayne Morgan had one of the fastest times in the nation out at the Oregon combine.

Estime has wicked acceleration but Morgan could be faster over 40. Ill see if I can go dig up Wayne's time from Oregon.

You are correct. He ran in the mid to high 4.4's at the Opening IIRC. Wayne can really run too.

The nfl compine is tricky. I wonder if Indy is just a slower track and the always add a few tenths for official times. Not sure why that is but I'd be more interested in what the guys run in pads vs shorts as well.

Again, it's numbers but he is quicker than fast. The top 10 yard splits were around 1.42-1.44 this year. Even if his true number is 1.47-1.49, that's a sick burst. He's clearly got powerful legs. As a our bubble/jet H, that's what we want.

Darren McFadden ran a 1.50, which was the 10th best time for a RB 10-yard split in the 2008 combine. So Bris' number isn't crazy out of the picture.

Here's a good article for those wanting to know more about what they're looking for with the 40 times, 10 splits, etc.:
