Syracuse.com's Patrick Stevens is also on the Dallas bandwagon.

I agree with others that think of all the possible scenarios for this 6-6 team, this would be the best one. The opponent isn't ideal (though some think ECU might take this spot instead) but the date is a good one, Dallas is relatively easy to get to, the Cotton Bowl is a special place for Syracuse football fans (the site of our only national championship; the game would be exactly 54 years from that game). The other realistic alternatives were Shreveport and Detroit. No question BC preferred Dallas to Shreveport and I am quite sure Pitt would trade places with us in a minute.

Assuming this all holds. There will surely be some heavy lobbying going on today; I hope this is how things end up.

was really hoping for Annapolis but Dallas is a good alternative

I don't understand why the ACC would do any favors for Maryland putting them in Annapolis... they should be trying to ship them to the Toilet Bowl...

But I guess when it comes down to it, it's all about the money and Maryland would be an ideal local fit for the Military Bowl.

I suspect it's more about the ACC protecting their relationship with the Military Bowl.

At some point Annapolis has to have a say, right?

Annapolis would be great because I can go and make a fun Friday out of it.

Dallas would be great because I can wake up New Years Day and watch the Orange.

Detroit would be fine because it's better than not playing in a bowl.

Come on down boys. The ice should be gone by Jan. 1 and our usual balmy winter weather back. I am stoked.

Look at it this way. A local bowl most likely means lower travel costs for MD. Lower travel costs for MD means less $$$ the ACC has to reimburse MD for their travel expenses. That means more $$$ thrown into the bowl money pool to split among conference members (not named MD). Plus the fact that MD probably won't even be reimbursed for their travel expenses by the league. I believe I read that MD has received no $$$ from the league since the day they announced they were leaving.

Maybe so...but MD fans don't even travel to Byrd stadium...what makes anyone think they'll schlep to Annapolis. We travel better than MD...

I'm seeing SU vs BG in the Little Caesars. Maybe it was updated.
Yup - me too. And I have never been to that page until now, so it's not a cache-clearing issue.

It could be Maryland's last bowl game for a while.

This morning's Washington Post says that Maryland was offered the Military Bowl last week and is probably going there. Marshall accepted the other spot last night.

Absolutely. I was simply providing a different perspective in response to the post suggesting that the league should try to ship Maryland elsewhere as some sort of retribution.

Since the ACC is withholding funds from Maryland, it is safe to assume the Terps are withholding their bowl money from the ACC.

I assumed all bowl revenues go to the league, who redistribute them (after expenses) equally to each member school. I think it's safe to say the league will be holding on to UMD's share until the lawsuit is settled.

Bowl money goes directly to the league, that is where the tie-ins are contracted. Not with the teams. Maryland may very well go play and get nothing from the league.

You may be right. But I've always assumed bowl monies go to the schools, who then contribute into the common fund.
