A Look at the Latest Projections

You may be right. But I've always assumed bowl monies go to the schools, who then contribute into the common fund.
I'm pretty sure the proceeds from a bowl game go to the league for distribution.

The bowl has a contract with the league, right?
I wonder if that is the case only for ACC affiliated bowls. In which case Swofford = Ninja.

I don't understand why the ACC would do any favors for Maryland putting them in Annapolis... they should be trying to ship them to the Toilet Bowl...

But I guess when it comes down to it, it's all about the money and Maryland would be an ideal local fit for the Military Bowl.

The ACC has little say in who the bowls select. The only stipulation is that they cannot select a team that has more than a one conference loss differential over another team. As I said in another post last week, BC would probably have preferred Dallas, but the Shreveport bowl is an ACC bowl and when their turn came to pick a team, they wanted BC. (If all this holds.)

Unless you're Notre Dame or a Service Academy, all bowl deals go through the conference.

So I'd think the conference gets the paychecks, and then redistributes the money accordingly.

I suspect it's more about the ACC protecting their relationship with the Military Bowl.
Exactly...the ACC might need a favor in the future from them.

This morning's Washington Post says that Maryland was offered the Military Bowl last week and is probably going there. Marshall accepted the other spot last night.
WTH are they waiting for? Not exactly they are the hot ticket outside 45 mins of College Park.

Don't forget the Mormons!

Texan Mark, the military bowl likely won't give Maryland an official invite until Clemson is a confirmed to a bcs bowl. Even though a low liklihood, if they don't get in a better team may fall to them also other bowls with first pick haven't made their picks for the same reason so technically they can't make a selection until The ACC contact bowls ahead of them pick

Really wanted San Diego (I'm in LA) for the Poinsettia Bowl. They may end up getting Buffalo due to a secondary MAC tie-in. Kind of wish Heart of Dallas could make a trade with the Bulls and SU, since we have a large alumni base in SoCal. The Bulls have no one down here, which will hurt the bowl game and UB's ability to meet their allotment.

I'm looking at it the other way around. The ACC will be doing that bowl game a favor by sending an in state team there.

The military will be pissed when Maryland can't sell it out. Might be a tad too cold for their fair weather fans. If I was a local business owner I might think twice really hard to advertise for that game. where's the benefit for them.

I want Dallas. Why?

How about the players taking the field at the same venue as the 1959 national champions. Syracuse back in Dallas on New Years Day. Will be positive publicity because of this awesome connection to the Cotton Bowl venue.

Nothing official, of course, but this pretty much conforms to what I indicated above re: BC in Shreveport.

I think the Texas Bowl against Minnesota in Houston would be a good combination of matchup and location, but no one has us going there. I wonder why.

I
Any projection that does NOT have BC headed to Shreveport is a bad one, I think.

My best guess as to where SU ends up:

Dallas 60%
Detroit 20%
Houston 20%

Makes sense. Although why has Tampa fallen completely off the map last 24 hrs? Not that I ever thought it made sense, but just curious why the change? They were considered a long shot by many yesterday

No local draw. There wouldn't be more than 20,000 in the place.

Mark Schlabach has us going to texas bowl vs Minnesota while brad Edwards has us in heart of dallas bowl vs north texas. Which would everybody prefer and anyone know the payout difference?

I think had they gotten Rutgers, they might have tried to set up a game against Syracuse. Who knows for sure?

I still want Dallas purely for selfish reasons.
The good thing about Houston...inside...weather not a factor and the Dome has many more amenities than an aged Cotton Bowl.

But I think either is great.

True...but I won't be able to able to go to Houston, due to 1) travel and 2) the fact I'll be working in San Antonio when the game is taking place anyway.

So Dallas it is for me!
