Not sure if everyone realizes how NIL and collectives work and exactly what the Athletic Department can do regarding those activities. There are two options to set up a collective. The first is to contract with a commercial entity. That is what was done with SANIL and Orange United, Once SANIL ceased operations negotiations were held with the only other active group (at the time), BluePrint Sports, but their terms were deemed to be unworkable by Syracuse. The other option is for an interested group of donors, business or other individuals to launch and manage the NIL fromt end. Those activities include establishing a mechanism for harvesting donations, contracting with student athletes by pairing them up with various business opportunities, confirming obligations have been met, issuing payment and reporting for compliance and tax purposes. That is what is being done by SU Football NIL and what I did the first two years of SyraCRUZ on a much smaller scale using the University's Accelerate platform and INFLNCR app. Once the collective is established the AD can support in many ways publicizing, making athletes available, compliance reporting and other administrative activities but until a group steps forward they are in limbo. We've been told that they are in the final stages of getting that set up but until all i's are dotted and t's crossed things are at a standstill.

Great insights here, my friend. I keep pressing SU about this, and as you noted, perhaps something will be announced soon. To me, having a collective is more ideal than a group of donors doing something, just because the collective is probably easier in terms of fans donating to it. But yes, SU Athletics isn't the one forming such an entity ... well said, brother.
