For the last few years, it has been difficult to look at our schedule at this point (or any other point) and easily come up with 6 wins. This year, we clearly can see wins over UCONN, Louisville and Chapel Hill.

Perhaps more importantly, we actually have a legitimate shot at beating anybody on the remaining schedule.

Yeah, I know we have all done it in prior years but this time it's different. This time it looks like the floor rather than the ceiling. I won't argue with any number higher than 6.

So, I am convinced we will make a bowl. How much better depends on how quickly the D matures.

For me, making a bowl is big - make that huge. Extra practices, recruiting, fan support and RESPECT.

Dino is not only restoring the program rep, he is doing it with an identity and charisma.

Next stop - top 25.

LGO!

I agree. I think we will be talking about 2018 for awhile.

I love the optimism but I don’t think we have matured enough as a program to pencil in anybody, short of an FCS team, as an automatic win. What strikes me as different and makes me optimistic as well is how different our athletes look compared to a couple of years ago. Our guys pass the ACC look test; we are no longer small and slow.

I have Middle Tennessee in my head this week. I really hope Dino has the Lou Holtz mentality. Lou used to talk about the Navy game like it was Bear Bryant's Alabama coming to town. Psychologically forcing the team to get up for a weaker opponent.

We need to get out big on the Huskies and not allow them to taste upset. Edsall worries me alot in this one. This isn't a guy looking to make a good showing. He wants to beat us.

Good reference with MTSU. I think believe it or not other than Wagner this is by far our easiest opponent. MTSU was actually a decent team. Probably would roll over UCONN right now. But I agree with the overall premise that we cannot look at this game as an easy win through the teams eyes. Dino needs to make sure they know that we play one game at a time.

The problem with this theory is that 2017 MTSU would beat this UConn team by two touchdowns. Just because the board is already marking this game as a W, doesn't mean that the team thinks this. Dino will have them ready

Interesting view, but you sure as heck can pencil UCONN as an automatic win. I guess that counts because they are playing like a FCS team?

I get we have been burned in the past by these type of games.
We are favored by 27.5 points
This is not another MTSU or Akron
We have turned the corner and time to move on

don't factor that point spread as a reason to just discount a team.

Yeah not even close. The MTSU spread was a lot closer.

We aren't losing this game. We aren't that team. There's zero reason to lose. We could play Welch and win.

Agree 100%

I am taking the rest of this season as I did the 1987 season. Coach Mac said, three down and one to go. That is the only way we can look at it. If the coaches, team, us and every person following this program doesn't, it will jump up and bite all of us on the a$$.

UConn is possibly the worst defense in the FBS. There'sa very good chance they will not win another game on their schedule.

And our guys want to dominate. This isn't last year.

Look at it this way
FSU is in the middle of a rebuild with 4 and 5 stars
UCONN is in the middle of a rebuild with 2 stars and N/A kids
I just can't see the comparison to MTSU, the number 2000 just keeps coming up when I look at UCONN and I get giddy.

If you look hard enough you can find a reason to be pessimistic about our chances going into any matchup. But its about % and this weeks game is pretty clear. If you want to set your internal meter to def-con code MTSU, go for it. But I'm not going to expend the energy.

Much like I thought FSU's OL was the x factor in us winning, I think so is UConn's D. It's all freshmen.

I'm certain we'll have some hangover effect (happens to the best of them), and there will be moments in the game where we wonder what happened to the team that played FSU. Their QB will break off a few big runs, we'll have a few 3rd downs where we just don't execute.

But over 60 minutes, we're going to score a lot more than they score.

Then we get to toss up city. If we can't win 2 of those remaining 8, then that means the whole team got hurt.

Sadly, because of the my perception at this point I feel like anything worse than the drubbing that Boise put on them is a failure. So the 62-7 line is in my head. It needs to be in that area for me to be satisfied.

With Dino’s nudge, this team is beginning to believe in themselves. Really believe in themselves! Confidence, talent, a seasoned quarterback and recent taste of blood could be a snowball just beginning to roll. This hurry up offense is tough to defend and wears everyone down.
