A sober view.

don't factor that point spread as a reason to just discount a team.
Actually, I think it makes a lot of sense to look at the spread. We were 7pt favorites vs MTSU, and we lost a close game. The two teams were evenly matched, and one has to lose.

We’re heavily favored vs UConn.

Losing that game would be a HUGE letdown.

I see us as underdogs vs. Clemson, Notre Dame and Boston College. I think we are even or better than the other schools. I think we win at least three of those games and pull off an upset. There's your 8-4.

We'll beat UConn. Because this year UConn is the UConniest UConn that ever UConned.

After that... we'll see. I think 95% of this board *knew* we'd make a bowl after the Clemson win last season.

I think we're making progress. However the middle of the ACC is tricky, teams look good one week and pedestrian the next. I'm not confident enough yet to assume much of anything. I do agree that the path to 6 wins is a clear as it has been in several years.

^^^This in spades. Yes the ACC has Clemson and Miami beating nearly everyone up in their respective divisions, but there is a critical mass in the middle of both divisions that no one can tell from week to week or year to year who will win the game. The fans of both schools are justified in looking at it as a "winnable" game before the season starts. Home field is worth a point or two. And the only thing that puts a team totally out of contention is injuries to key players.

I agree and quite frankly, I don't understand all the bravado around here... But maybe it's just me but when it comes to Syracuse football I don't think you can take ANY WIN or game for granted.

If we lose to UCONN I'll ban myself from this board for a month
I'll also most likely burn all my Syracuse stuff as well, BUT no way in hell we are losing
27.5 favorites
ESPN has us at 97.5% winning
We are playing against historically the worst D1 defense
7 FRESHMAN starters on defense for UCONN
We are at home
ERIC **** DUNGEY
Our 3 headed monster at RB
Robinson and Slayton are going to abuse the UCONN line
56% completions from their "running" QB in the two games he played against D1 schools our secondary is going to continue to grow up and give him fits

Just enjoy the damn season and what a beating this game will be

For the last few years, it has been difficult to look at our schedule at this point (or any other point) and easily come up with 6 wins. This year, we clearly can see wins over UCONN, Louisville and Chapel Hill.

Perhaps more importantly, we actually have a legitimate shot at beating anybody on the remaining schedule.

Yeah, I know we have all done it in prior years but this time it's different. This time it looks like the floor rather than the ceiling. I won't argue with any number higher than 6.

So, I am convinced we will make a bowl. How much better depends on how quickly the D matures.

For me, making a bowl is big - make that huge. Extra practices, recruiting, fan support and RESPECT.

Dino is not only restoring the program rep, he is doing it with an identity and charisma.

Next stop - top 25.

LGO!

And video game consoles for the kids!

Agree completely. We won FOUR games last year. FOUR!!!!

Sadly, because of the my perception at this point I feel like anything worse than the drubbing that Boise put on them is a failure. So the 62-7 line is in my head. It needs to be in that area for me to be satisfied.
I’m not sure what the college football version of nuclear weapons is, but whatever it is, I want to use them on UConn. They must be destroyed.

Look is clear SU should dominate this matchup. Uconn's D is horrible mostly based on the fact there starting D is at least 2/3rs made up of True and Red-shirt freshmen. They just gave up 49 pts to Rhode Island and their secondary might be the weakest part of the D and we have plenty of talented and experienced pass catchers - Custis, Nykiem, Butler, Pierce etc. This also appears to be a much better overall team then in the past when people would call for a blowout in these types of games and before you knew it we were up single digits in the 3rd quarter.

That said its clear Edsall is likely to have these guys coming out like their hair is on fire and he will probably throw the kitchen sink at us. They also have the kind of QB (though not the skill guys besides rb) that has given us problems in the past. Based on that and our history I am not going to look past any game save for a lower FCS team at this point. SU should win easily but we also need to play like we did in the 2nd half versus FSU and not think we can just go through the motions like were did in the 3rd quarter against WMU. I trust Babers learned his lesson from the MTSU game and MTSU this Uconn team is not but let's see how this team handles success and being the big favorite for a change.

With Dino’s nudge, this team is beginning to believe in themselves. Really believe in themselves! Confidence, talent, a seasoned quarterback and recent taste of blood could be a snowball just beginning to roll. This hurry up offense is tough to defend and wears everyone down.
Here's hoping that snowball catches fire! ;)

...fire snowballs you say? Thank you. We need to use fire snowballs on UConn.

Look at it this way
FSU is in the middle of a rebuild with 4 and 5 stars
UCONN is in the middle of a rebuild with 2 stars and N/A kids
I just can't see the comparison to MTSU, the number 2000 just keeps coming up when I look at UCONN and I get giddy.
I wouldn’t be surprised if SU puts up 2000 yards in this game alone!
