After our usual horrendous start this year from the free throw line (62.6% through the Stanford game), the team has rallied nicely and shot over 75% over the last 7 games (check out the attached file). Amazingly in three of those games we hit for 80%+. In years past it seems like we would have one of these great performances but would revert quickly to form. While this is a fairly small sample, it gives me some hope for more consistent good performances
Scoop has had an abysmal year so far at the line (52%). As has been posted elsewhere he has seemed to regress every year: 83% (07-08); 75% (09-10); 66% (10-11). This year he has "bounced back" to matching last year's efficiency during the last 7 games after shooting 42% over the first 6 games. Must be something in the Syracuse water system.
With the game on the line and the other team is sending us to the line, it would be a luxury if we could maintain the 75% at a minimum. For that reason alone at crunch time I would like to see BT (83%), KJo (82%), CJ (77%), BKM (75%) and Dion (71%) on the floor, although obvously other considerations would prevail.
Not sure if the performance is markedly diffrerent over the last 5 mins of each game.
