Keep Clemson if they want to stay. They have not been A Holes in the process. I would throw the flaming spear they use right through the FSU athletic depth. Imagine getting to play UCONN Duke, NC, Georgetown, Nova every year or so. Awesome!

Suppose that is another option altogether. Ditch FSU and Clemson and go with 27 teams:

Northeast: UConn, BC, Syracuse, Providence, St Johns, Seton Hall, Pitt, Villanova, Georgetown (9)
Southeast: Virginia Tech, Virginia, UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake, Ga Tech, Miami, Louisville (9)
Notsoeast: SMU, Marquette, DePaul, Xavier, Creighton, Cal, Stanford, ND, Butler (9).

Play each division once, 5 of one other division 4 of the other.

Top 3 get a bye, bottom 6 play in.
