This has never been about what fans and sportswriters have wanted to see. It has always been about money - keeping nearly all of it for the P5 and not giving it to the G5. Expanding the playoffs means taking a G5 team, which gives them money and recognition that the P5 doesn't want them to have. That drives the decision on only having 4 teams and the players being in a max of 14 games more than any other reason, including player safety.
