Horrible idea. Imagine the outcry when one school is a game behind for a division title to a school that they beat in an "OOC" matchup.
Could not happen -- OOC games would be cross-divisional.
good point.
New Scenario:
SU and FSU each go 5-1 in division; SU beats FSU but loses to Clemson while FSU beats Clemson (assume Clemson has a couple other losses and is out of the title picture)
Each team plays and beats similar teams in cross-division game (e,g., GT and NC) and are now 6-1 in conference
Each loses to Pitt, but SU played them as annual rival while FSU played them "OOC" - SU's ACC record is now 6-2, FSU is still 6-1
Each beats Miami, but SU played them "OOC" while FSU played them as annual rival - SU is still 6-2, FSU is now 7-1. These are their final ACC records in the standings.
So, despite each going 7-2 against basically the same conference schedule and SU winning head to head, FSU will go to the championship game
I don't understand what you said, but it sounds bad.good point.
