It doesn't. Someone contacted me and told me the move from ESPN2 to ESPN or ABC helps because that means ESPN/ABC values that game more than anything else they have available to air. They explained that the reverse is also true. If a game moves to ESPN2 it is because they have something they deem more valuable to air in the ESPN or ABC slot. So, let's take the Citrus and the Outback. Prior to the new CFP system one of those games would air on ABC while the other aired on ESPN at the noon/1PM NYD time slot. But now with their being six NY6 Bowls, the Fiesta, Cotton, and Peach alternate at that time slot for ESPN giving ABC the Citrus and leaving the Outback with two games to compete against from ESPN2, rather than just one. The only time the Outback catches a break is when NYD falls on a Sunday. The NY6 bowl game aired on Monday January 2nd at 1PM on ESPN while the Outback had the same time slot on ABC. Meanwhile the Citrus aired on Saturday December 31st on ABC in that early time slot with the Gator as competition. Just a long-winded way of saying that it has to do with level and number of competition in the time slot and obstinance on the part of SEC/B1G that their games won't be moved from their traditional spots even though it might be better ratings wise at least if they did. Cheers, Neil
