ACC / NCAA Games for Nov 20-23

Why does Virginia always get so much hype?
At least some of it is the contrast between Bennett's style of play and Odom's. Another bit is Odom's resumé. There aren't a lot of coaches who have taken 3 teams to the NCAAs. And then there's ... that game which shall not be mentioned further.

That was a helluva play for an end-of-game shot!!

Baseball throw to the tallest dude, who immediately reversed it to the shooter, who got to shoot in rhythm.

When your tall dude isn’t Christian Laettner - or Conrad McRae -
that’s a brilliant play call.
The famous Bryce Drew play. Very few ways to get a good three point shot in less than a second when inbounding from the other end of the court.

Just horrible defense by Memphis. How does the guy guarding the shooter let him catch the ball behind him. Totally asleep at the wheel. You always have to keep the ball in front of you. Great win for WF. They needed it after playing two ranked teams close but losing.

Who does Wake even have on their team? Didn’t that Gonzaga transfer graduate? I thought their offseason roster acquisition was lackluster.
247 had their transfer class 8th in the ACC, 39 overall. Their high school recruits were rated 16th in the ACC and 86th nationally. Combined they were 15th in the ACC and 73rd overall.

Not a great offseason, but still top 75 all around. I guess where you want your worst teams in the conference, so they don't drag you down too far.

Still, a nice OOC win for them over Memphis.

Not really notable names IMO. Their guard Harris is having a breakout season after an uninspiring freshman year. Colvin transferred from Purdue. He was a role player there but maybe he was just stuck behind their stud guards. Forbes seems like a good coach who has kept that team competitive despite not having top talent.

I don’t ultimately think they’ll be a top 25ish team, but they’ve shown well so far this year. Missing the huge opportunities against Michigan and Texas Tech I think they’re probably destined for another bubble type season.

In other games Monmouth beat Robert Morris by 1 in OT, Drexel beat ODU, Bingo lost to Canisius and Miami yesterday waxed Delaware St by more than we did (97-41)

Thanks Pitt.
BC was also down 10 early against Tulane, but they got it back to 2
