Pitt hasn’t won a game since they beat us. Amazing that they pulled a Dino and lost 6 straight to end the season. In the worse way. Pitt goes down to a MAC team
Some bowl games matter more than others. This bowl game for SU > than a "4th Rate bowl" for Butgers. While the ACC needs the win, SU needs it more. The ACC needs SU to win convincingly to at least show a deeper conference than the ACC has been for a while. SU needs the win to keep the Fran Brown express rolling.
A win in a respectable bowl goes far in building confidence for the younger returning players. Facing Tennessee out of the gate next fall will be no easy task, yet having a convincing bowl victory under their belt, on the heals of the Miami upset, does a lot to remove any awe of a projected top 10 team.
Just this fan’s opinion.

Going on the road at night is never an easy task. And it just snowballed after some bad bounces and poor decisions. OL also had one of their poorer performancesWhat's also crazy is we looked completely outclassed by PITT. Their victory over us was in all facets.
It was a weird game, but I did think PITT might be the best team in the ACC after that game.
In hindsight, I think we simply weren't ready to play that game for whatever reason and could never get a foothold to compete.
It certainly wasn't BC-loss bad, but I think it shows that we can't just show up and go at 75% and expect to compete. We're nowhere near that good and the line blocking/scheming on both sides of the ball was atrocious in that game.

I disagree.
Our stats and TOP were VASTLY in our favor for that game.
If McCord doesn’t have a bunch of balls tipped and INTs we win that game easily.
Just a bad day to have a bad day.
We will get em next year
We also couldn't run the ball. The interceptions weren't just luck.
The line blocking was really poor and collapsed and put McCord under immediate pressure repeatedly. He was getting 1-2 seconds for reads and checkdowns.
What it showed that even he needs more time than that to be effective (as most throwing QBs would.)
Plus we had receivers going at 75%, not getting separation, and dropping passes that were on target.
Growing pains. I'm positive Fran Brown will stew over the Stanford (and to a lesser extent BC) loss the entire off-season.We had a great season but we really could have been 11-1. I leave the 1 because it’s hard not to have one bad day…..
Meh. In past years, I would have agreed. But with more players either not playing bowl games, or at best not giving a s#it about them, games outside the FBS championship just don't mean that much anymore. In the worse way. Pitt goes down to a MAC team
Yep, if Georgia Tech can't the job done vs Vanderbilt, it will be up to us to get the first win for the ACC.
In the Pitt game every single thing except a ton of key injuries, that could go wrong didWhat's also crazy is we looked completely outclassed by PITT. Their victory over us was in all facets.

This is starting to feel like the ACC/SEC challenge in basketballUNC is keeping the ACC streak going, (Syracuse did not get the memo). The bowl games not helping ACC reputation.
I thought this was a 10 win team from day 1. I also thought the defense would be a lot better than it ended up being. It’s amazing we gave up that many points to BC and lost. Their offense is atrocious. Even Stanford. That was the worst offensive game we had and it was before Meeks started to get more snaps. We still had them 4th and long knowing they were going to Ayomander and we don’t blitz and let him get enough for 1st down. Two tough losses to swallow. The stars don’t align for teams like this all the time. You have to capitalize and we did for the most part. It's amazing that posters are musing about not going 11-1. Not in our wildest dreams did anyone think that was possible back on November 27th of last year. Just be grateful and enjoy a great season.
Happy New Year Orange Faithful!
