With pods as above, which seem like good regional combinations, and only [COLOR=#ff0000]one[/COLOR] crossover game, each school would be playing each other at least every 2 years, plus ND every 3 years.
 
Crossovers: FSU-Miami, UNC-UVA, others (?)
 
2) I like the suggestion of another poster to perhaps limit crossover games to must play games for selected teams allowing more frequent games against everyone else. 
 
3) Obviously FSU, Clemson, GT wanted this to allow them to play their annual SEC game plus ND every 3 years.
 
I hope SU schedules RU and UConn regularly as northeast games, assuming PSU will be twice every 10 years or so.
 
4) The SEC channel is reportedly set to begin in 2014. With the Big 10 set to renegotiate their TV contract in 2016, and with the PAC network being established, I would expect there may be a push to add a 13th game in the next few years.
