I did three years in NC for law school. Bojangles gets my vote of the three, but Cookout wins if you want a lot of stuff for cheap!

I don't see that many football broadcasts from the ACC network, as I go to the home games and usually attend some away games too.

Maybe the production and announcers for ACC network football games are sometimes better than the basketball productions. The ones I have seen have been bad to awful. I really dislike how gutless they are regarding discussing close calls made by the refs.

A lot of them seem terrified to disagree with a call, even when the replays show the call was glowingly wrong. And a lot of them don't even try to hide showing their preference for the more southern team in Syracuse games.

I think sufandu is on to something. The audiences in the Northeast appear to hold sports broadcasts to a higher standard than many people in the core ACC territory do. Syracuse fans probably have the highest standard of any program in the country...

Football has been hit or miss. I do agree they can discuss close calls more and take a stand. As far as the preference to the southern terms, it's just my personal philosophy that I can't talk about that with much credibility when I'm watching from a biased perspective.

I voted for Bojangles because of the only item that matters there. The Cajun Chicken Biscuit. It's amazing and I get two every time I'm lucky enough to be near a location. We get Mellow Mushroom regularly at work. Not even close to NY style pizza, but still good if you're not a snob (I just love pizza). Never had Cookout, but I've heard good things.

Bojangles is decent chicken, but as others have said, you might as well save a step and eat it directly in the bathroom because that's where you're going to be spending the next couple hours.

Mellow Mushroom? Ugh. If people want beer with their crappy fast food pizza, why not just sneak a couple bottles into Little Caesars? No real difference.

That other place I've never heard of. Definitely putting on the next southern to-do list.

Mellow Mushroom is awful but Little Casesars has their niche if no other reason than to provide some sanity for the prices that NY pizzerias get for a pie and wings. $30 for pizza and wings is nuts.

Hence several votes because they are the best drunk food place of the three.

In college my best drunk food was either Oswego Subs or Pizza Villa (large calzone).

I have lived in the Charlotte area for about 23 years now. Bojangles, I don't really care for, however, my teenage son loves it. As others have said, the breakfast sausage biscuit is good. Mellow Mushroom's Pizza is fair at best. They do have an extensive beer/craft beer list. Other chain types for pizza that are significantly better here are Tony's Pizza & Brooklyn Pizza. Cook out is decent, for fast food, and it's relatively cheap. Additionally, their milkshakes will blow you away, they're that good! I read an article not too long ago relative to franchises, and this one is growing and worth opening/investing in, if that is of any interest.

As someone else mentioned, Zaxby's is really good. I think its chicken (fingers) is the best around, especially for fast food, and that includes Chick-fil-A.

Another good fast food type place to hit here in the Charlotte area is Showmar's. Its fish platter/sandwich rivals the fish cove type's found up there. It also has great Greek type salads, as well as burgers. Stay away from the fries and onion rings though, which are a let down considering how good their food is. Stick with the slaw and Hush Puppies!

On an aside, another great franchise to try and/or invest in is a desert franchise called, 'Nothing Bundt Cakes.' It's spectacular! It ranges from full size bundt cakes to bundtlettes...bite size deals. The one's here are always packed.

They were wrong. The Newhouse people knew how to pronounce names.

They knew to keep track of players in foul trouble.

They noticed when a team switched defenses or a player was tired. They talked about the game at hand, not about some ACC coach that retired 10 years ago that they used to coach against.

They apologized when the director fell asleep and missed plays. They apologized when the graphics displayed were wrong.

They cared about the product being presented and were professional.

I remain shocked at how ACC markets are willing to tolerate the low quantity, amateur level production that is synonymous with ACC Network produced basketball and football games. You would think with the excellence ACC sports programs show on the courts and fields, the production of the games would be better.

I hope that when the real ACC Network comes on-line, ESPN makes the call on who is running things. Raycom Sports isn't fit to cover dog shows.
p|ssed off tomcat is the best tomcat

Cookout by a bit strictly for the milkshakes. Bojangles is so freaking greasy and mellow Mushroom is marginal pizza at best. Bojangles does serve breakfast all day but the chicken is straight grease.
1. Agree on cookout and mellow mushroom
2. Fried chicken is supposed to be greasy lol

Bojangles chicken is greasy even by Frank Zappa standards.
