If ND ever joins in FB then the ACC should really think about starting it's own network. With the brands and markets under the ACC, wouldn't it make a lot of money? Of the Top 25 markets, the ACC would have an influence in 10 of them.

NBC runs out in '15 so they will announce in '14 that they will be joining for football after that.

Very few sports deals run 'til their end before they are renegotiated these days (see: NFL, MLB, NBA, Big 12, etc). I suspect you'll see something happen in terms of a renewal long before 2014.

If Notre Dame has 6 teams they want to keep playing regularly. Play 3 one year, 3 the following, etc., etc.

Rotate USC-Stanford, Sparty-Purdue, Navy-?(forgetting who the 6th team is)

its 2013 is in about 100days. i would assume 2013 is negotiation time.

Michigan?

Could be. Then rotate Michigan-MSU, USC-Stanford, Navy-Purdue. That Purdue game doesn't do anything for ND except keep tradition since the game is in Indiana either way. They could cut Purdue and play Navy every year and not lose anything.

That rotation would still have them playing a game in California and Michigan every other year with a return trip from a cal or michigan team ever year in between while playing a full ACC slate.

I believe ND said yesterday that they are protecting 3 annual games: Navy, USC and Stanford. They didn't say that about Michigan, Michigan State or Purdue. So they seem to have already started prepping their fanbase for discontinuing certain rivalries should they need to in joining the ACC full-time for football.

Also interesting to see how the ND fan reaction towards preserving independence is much more mixed than ever before. The old guard still demands it, but seems like the under 50 crowd is fine with doing either.

I'm still not sold that they'll move football to the ACC fully anytime soon. But I think it's more likely than I thought a couple days ago.

The Michigan rivalry has taken 2 years off a couple times in recent history ('95, '96, '00, '01). ND football survived, so I think their fans would get over it if Michigan wasn't annual. That's the toughest one. I can't imagine people there would get overly worked up about Purdue or Michigan State if replaced with ACC teams. Local fans might hate losing the quick trip, but national fans would embrace, and like locusts, they seem to be everywhere.

Can't wait to see the results of the cost/benefit analysis of what the renegotiation with NBC (or anyone else that steps up to compete) will bring.
