If you've ever written a check in your life for more than was currently in your account and/or bounced a check in your life (as I have), then we're just as guilty.  The difference is in the amounts/circumstances.  It wasn't an elaborate "fraud" scheme, it was an error of personal judgement with significant consequences.

The ones I don't believe are the naysayers who say he doesn't follow up on his pledges and/or that theres no way he can have the wealth he has from his businesses alone, that somehow cuz of the above he's crooked and "connected" somehow to the underworld.  BS, and jealousy is my take, especially being from NYC and having old history family connections in that world.  He isn't in that group believe me, and if he wasn't owning up to his pledges I'd imagine we'd have heard that as well.
