I am not much of a know it all when it comes to the X and O’s, but with that being said I think it’s nice to look at the offense in a more common sense mindset, not X and O’s.

Fact is the line is our weakness. We know it, everyone knows it. So, why don’t we try and get the ball away from the line, it’s that simple!

For example, quick dump downs to the RB and WR screens. Maybe a 2 RB set with two dump down options? I mean get the ball quick to the outside and at least give them a chance to do something. You do this enough and the box starts to empty up. Then, just then you may be able to run your favorite up the middle dive.

How about a couple toss plays to the outside? How about a jet sweep?

I guess my common sense mindset here tells me to get the ball out of the pocket ASAP and get the ball in players hands where they have room to make someone miss. I hope we see improvements on the calls this week.

there is a reason why mcnabb had designed rollouts all the time.

To this i'll add: what happened to our WR bubble screens? Custis single-handedly made those screens work? Those screens almost single-handedly won the game last year vs FSU.

Something ain't right in the water...

Don't disagree about your overall point, but against a team like clemson running things east-west is typically a bad idea given the speed present on the defensive side. On the other side, that doesn't mean half back dives north south is the answer either. Then again... it's not like it could have been any worse than taking a sack anyway.

We really miss the production Erv provided.

Yes. I can’t believe that the WR screen which was prominent in this offense is gone. Why? I really don’t get that.

Since Bailey and Nate read this site, maybe they can ask this question at next week's presser.

At one point, we were five wide and all WRs ran patterns (on both sides) outside the numbers, along the sidelines. There were literally no people between the hash marks.

If that's a strategic paradigm, we may have a bigger problem at hand

I bet it has to do with our size at WR. Jackson, Harris, and Riley are all sticks. Hard to block with those options.

I believe that is simply our system. If no defenders are in the middle, run up the middle. If defenders are in the middle, throw it outside.

Maybe the sticks should be on the pine a little more then?

When we ran the Riley Sprint reverse type play and the LB outran him to the corner it kind shows speed plays outside are an issue.. the answer is better pass blocking so we can run an offense.
