If we beat Western Michigan, I honestly feel we win out. Really.

But I can easily see this team getting beat by WM after the letdown of the last 2 weeks.

A loss this week might erode too much confidence to win out.

Nothing wrong with optimism. I personally think between 6-6 and 8-4 is where we end up.
And 8-4 with a first year starter would NOT represent a step back for the program. Nor, really, would 7-5 and a bowl bid.

This will quickly be replied to by the mods patrolling the inter-webs saying how this should be on the crootin board!! But, I do agree... kind of... odd. Like I genuinely love Dino as our coach. But, is it too much to ask for a recruiting class that is similar to let’s say NC state?

A bit. What a wonderful problem to have compared to past problems with the program and I am not normally the one to sound the alarm for concern but haven't seen anything to this effect yet. It has been absolutely exhilarating to read see and hear the unbridled optimism and enthusiasm going on...

We are paying Dino big money to adjust and to compete in the second half. Good coaches coach up through the season. I expect Dino to do the same. These are his guys now and they will get going.

I'm still pessimistic at this point. I don't care that we played Clemson and they're the best team in the country. Even discounting that game, we struggled against Liberty and got blown out by MD. Even if I were to say, we lost to the best team in the country that pummels everyone and the MD game is just one of those fluky games that happens. I can handle that but then you still have the game against Liberty we didn't look great in. So then, do I make the excuse it was the first game or do I see a pattern for this year. At some point I think there's possibly something there to be worried about.

Sticking to my 6 - 6 --> 7 - 5 regular season
* I'll be really happy with 8 this year and I'll be happy with 7 too. 6 - 6 will feel a little deflating because I'm not super hopeful our recruiting is good enough to make a big leap in the year or even two.

Overall I really don't know what to think in general. The ACC games will tell a lot, I'm not banking any thoughts on the next two games unless we lose to WMU. Otherwise, even if we play poorly I don't know that that means we will in our ACC games. Kind of implies it's likely but I also think DB can get this team turned on for the 2nd half of the year.

Nobody is going to fear this team right now. The first three games show tremendous defensive inconsistency, and a struggling offense.

The respect we all desire is going to have to be earned one game at a time. The first step is beating WMU.

This has been a tough few weeks, so for the next 2 days I'm going to remain calm and see what happens Saturday. Being a fan can be tough, so I need to remind myself:

Good news for us is the rest of the ACC appears quite mediocre. IF we can get to the bye week at 3-2 and get Heckel and Williams back in practice prior things could get back on track. Massive game this week, luckily my voice just came back after Clemson so I'll be back in full voice at the dome once again to do my part.

While I agree with you that the ACC is average, WF is very good and in all honesty who knows what FSU team will show when SU plays them. Also...I don't know if a team or two may go with younger guys that we haven't seen/played yet and improve as the season progresses, especially with the 4 game redshirt rule.

Yep...the battle starts Saturday and I'll have to drink some tea to keep my voice throughout the game as I lost it in the first half vs Clemson.

We stunk on offense in the first game too. We just played a nobody school.

I admire the OP’s optimism and hope he’s right. I need to see more, but I’m thinking 6-6 at this point.
