BC has the potential to be the most soul sucking show any of us will ever see. i'm terrified of needing that game for a bowl and watching both teams punt to each other all day

I would expect NC State to normalize as they start playing the teams with better offenses. But the rest are all tested.

Beat UVA, hold your ground and win at home (other than Clemson), and the formula is written.

No room for error.

NC State just gave a bunch of points to probably the worst VA Tech offense in two decades. If there the #3 defense then our defense must be the 85 Bears incarnate.

was curious about the gauntlet other teams get.

bc got 7 points against FSU, duke and wake. and still get get clemson, louisville, VT, (nc state) and ND. they might quit by the end.

if bc beats NC State, there's a good chance that they will have fallen apart by the time we play them. pray for wake to beat them at home.

I didn't realize Pitt's defense was that good but have they really played anyone on offense? I don't know really. Not surprised as Narduzzi is putting his stamp on the program. He will prove to be a good one, Wisconsin should have hired HIM.

I get that NCst padded their numbers, but they are what they are.

Will they fall back some, without a doubt, but halfway through the season that's pretty good regardless of the schedule to date.

It goes back to the question I asked a couple of weeks ago, ACC great defenses or bad offenses?

The answer could be yes to both parts.

BC has played TWO D1AA teams (Maine and Howard).

Pitt has played, Youngstown, Akron, Iowa, VT and UVA

As long as we're the 3 on the final 3-0 score.

Maybe. But they are not good against the run when it's real competition:

Allowed 198 yds rushing in 4 games / allowed 403 yds in 2 games vs ACC

Also worth noting about NC State: They are averaging a Mcit like 13.0 points per game vs P5 teams (ACC). They were averaging 50.0 per game vs non P5. Their offense may have fallen off the same cliff as BC - only they don't have injuries as an excuse

Guess who's giving up 476 yds per game against FBS teams.

But I'm sure there is a long list of reasons to say don't worry be happy.

The only thing that matters is who you played. Any team can make themselves look good numbers wise depending on who they played.

Apples to apples man

We actually gave up 314 total yds RUSHING to the two P5 teams we've played (that's what I referenced re: NC State). And one had the best RB in the country.

And I hope you're not comparing Eastern Kentucky, Old Dominion, and South Alabama to LSU, CMU, and USF.

I'm very worried about our defense. We've been bad vs the pass and last week were exposed running.

But the point remains: if I were an NC ST fan, I'd be worried about how we looked vs two mediocre ACC teams on O and D.

Stop, you'd be telling the NC St board how over rated LSU is and how with a bye week and getting our star QB back we got crushed by South Florida.

You bet I would. I guarantee you that every team on our schedule thinks we are one of the worst teams.

I'd sure as hell be worried about the other games on the schedule - you know, like I am now for Syracuse.

I said this two months ago, and again two weeks ago after the close loss to LSU: we can't look past anyone on our schedule and no one can take us lightly either. I believe in our D coaches (maybe not 100% on the secondary coach) and I love the young talent on O and am impressed with Lester as OC. But we simply don't have the talent or experience to widen the margin needed to win.

I'm positive about the future. But you guys have me pegged wrong about how I evaluate the past. I look at it very honestly.

But believe what ya want.

In an already unreliable area total defense is an antiquated statistical measure in today's college game. It doesn't take into account pace of play, field position, score, opponent etc.

Much better statistical measures of defensive performance out there if anyone is trying to make a point.

this snide obnoxious post would've been more useful if you had, I don't know, LINKED TO THESE STATS

It's a pretty good high level indicator of relative strength

Not really. They have only played two ACC teams and have given up 24 ppg. NCS sos is 91st. Troy, E Kentucky, Old Dominion and S Alabama - their stats mean nothing thus far. Everyone else you mention seem very legit.
