Alabama - Georgia

Well when you have 2 losses, how else are you going to justify jumping over two 1 loss teams with better wins.

BUT THAT CROOTIN' CLASS THO
Alabama being in Georgia’s conference shouldn’t be a punishment for Georgia.
The 2 loss thing doesn’t matter if the committee criteria is 4 best teams.

How's that 29 point blowout at Purdue lookin right about now?

This is all ridiculous and the 4 team thing will get blown up after the current contract is over. ND is sitting home eating popcorn, OSU is top 4 and will be left out. I dont care about the Purdue game, these are 18-22 yo kids. OSU has the biggest game in them. Eye test.

8 teams, 5 conference champs, 2 at large, 1 G5 team. First 4 games on campus then the current system with the bowls kicks in. Its obvious and preserves the regular season.

You need glasses if you think the eye test supports OSU:p

Oh so that's how we do it. We go by who had the best win. Got it.

I think his point is the SOS is not as impressive as other teams. Simply playing in the SEC should not be a bullet point for qualification.

In truth, Bama did not play a very tough schedule as the SEC West is not as strong as it has been. Clemson had a softer schedule because FSU fell off, as did Louisville, though SU gave them a very good scare. ND's schedule strength took a nose dive because a few teams failed to live up to their potential (which probably is why ND will be in the playoffs).

I watched OSU play Neb, MD and Purdue. they failed my eye test. Miserably.

Go over UGA's schedule and then try to convince me that it wasn't tougher than what OSU or OU played.

Ohio State doesn’t pass the eye test they pass the talent on their roster and potential to beat Alabama test.
They have SEC talent on both sides of the ball. The problem has been they haven’t played well at all.
After Clemson and Georgia I would give Ohio State the best chance to beat Alabama but they failed the eye test and the committee put Oklahoma ahead of them.

I want to see OSU play more than one good game this year. They had so many mediocre performances to overlook imo. In any event their OL and DL are not up to previous standards.

Why? I agree with your point, but why would you do that to yourself?

Still trying to understand your view that UGA had a lesser SOS than other title contenders.

That makes sense. Just glad you're not punishing yourself for SU having a good season.

I'm an SU fan but I'm a college football junkie too. I just want to see the four most deserving teams get in.

the thing working against georgia is the fact that they would be #4 if chosen does committee really want a sec rematch and no way do i see them moving alabama off #1

Good point. They'd have to re-jigger the order. They also might be enthralled with an OU/Bama matchup. OSU has a very low probability of getting in imo.

The SEC is a gift and a curse. In CBB, the ACC strength helps us because they’ll take 40 teams from a strong conference... CFB, not so much.

The gift is it allows a Bama to stub their toe in the Championship Game and still get in, whereas Clemson perhaps doesn’t have that luxury this year.

The curse, pretty obvious... Georgia is 100% in the Playoff if they were in any other conference except maybe ours because they’d have to beat Clemson at some point.

I would put UF, Auburn, and Kentucky over OSU or OUs three best wins.

That wasn't my claim, just trying to help someone make their point.

Personally, I think Georgia failed to take care of business, which the committee is tasked with using as one criterion. Conference championships are supposed to matter. Assuming Clemson and tOSU take care of business, then they deserve consideration above Georgia. That does not dismiss Georgia, but the others have checked a box the Committee has agreed matters.

My further analysis is that tOSU's loss is the worst of the 1-loss and 2-loss teams in consideration. OU's loss was to UT, a ranked team, rival and on a neutral field by 3 points.

If Georgia gets in, I won't be upset.

NOTE: The PAC12 champ should be considered, too, but the reality is that Washington, with three losses, is nowhere near the top 4. As fans, we can dismiss them summarily, the Committee must do their job.

Let's look at whole body of work. If you're going to allow me to cherry pick three games I can find a way for East BumFluk to get into the CFP.

Georgia will likely get the boobie prize of a matchup vs texas in the sugar bowl

He’s picking three games because of what I said earlier about UGa’s best three wins.

Anyway I’m not really interested in the numbers because I don’t think PSU or NW are that good.

Fair points. Committee is tasked with getting four best teams in. They've snubbed conference tourney winners b4 so that's just one criteria. You guys that keep mentioning tOSU are suffering from recency bias and haven't carefully looked at their resume.
