Alan Griffin

Most players would if they knew that any misstep would get them yanked immediately, obviously he was looking over his shoulder the whole time he was in the game. I didn't see Braswell do much better, at least on the offensive end, but he isn't in JB's doghouse so he's not getting the criticism AG gets.
His leash got as short as it was last night because he’s been a net negative for a month

How do I know? Because when the camera focused on him several times in the first half, he was sweating bullets. And because he was playing tight. You don't think those two things were correlated?
Again, how do you know this? You're assigning emotions to what you saw which is completely subjective. Maybe you're right. Maybe you're wrong.

Good point. It's kind of surprising by just looking at him. I really like Griff. I could see him leaving but I hope he doesn't and can get his mind straight going into next year. He's a great talent.

It's really tough. We have so many strange pieces flowing about on the roster.

Just my opinion, for me AG seems perfectly positioned to excel at the 2 in our zone. He covers a ton of ground, gets in passing lanes, contests jump shots insanely well, and flies about for loose balls.

We all sing a sad song for Marek playing the 5, but Griffin is sort of assessed as a SF in the zone. He could certainly be better, but it seems hardwired for him to try to contest everything, which leaves him pretty far from the blocks far too often. Adding to that problem is that Marek allows entry passes like it's his job. Jesse don't.

Give me a break -- I said he looked nervous, I didn't pretend to read his thoughts.

And said observation about how nervous he looked seemed to translate over to his play, so...

Has there been a player in recent memory that had gone from an all-around threat to a complete liability? Not saying tonight is on him, but he was a no show for the last few weeks of the season.

The only other good player that I recall completely becoming near non-existent in his final six-plus games was Raf Addison...but think he was ineffective while still playing.

I like Griffin too. He’s very talented and an excellent athlete. But he really lacks the ability to focus and play within the scheme. He also needs to work on his dribble and driving ability. It sounds like he’ll be leaving after this season but if he came back, I think there’s a chance he’d finally learn to stay locked in all game. Sometimes it just takes a little more time before it starts to click for some players, and that could happen next season. I’m rooting for him no matter what happens next. He seems like a great teammate and a Syracuse fan.
AG was a big contributor until the last 5 games. Don't know what happened to cause this kind of meltdown. Clearly the coach lost confidence in him and that seems to have played games with his head. Nobody wants to transfer 2 consecutive years but it's hard to see him coming back. If Quincy returns he starts and plays 30+ minutes. Incoming elite recruit Benny Williams will likely start and play 30 minutes. Braswell came on and will get some PT. So there doesn't seem any PT available at the forward spots.

I bet AG goes pro. I think he can make a G-League team next year

Griff making money.

Is he trying to hawk autographed 'merch on the net?

This is like UFC fighter, Tito Ortiz or Lavar Ball selling Tshirts out of the back of his car

steiner has marketed the idea of player lockers when you can buy things. He has more to come and I think already has one for JB.

I listened to the interview with griffin. A few tidbits.

- wished he could have played here with all the fans as that was one of the reasons he transferred here.

- wished he had come here in the beginning.

- coach that pushed him the hardest was GMac. Said he was the most emotional coach in practice. But calm during games and would just give you advice and coaching.

- has been working out 2-3 times a day, every day, since the season ended.

the kid has smileitis.

Yeah I really wish he could have played in front of a packed Dome. I mentioned this back then but the Buffalo, ND, and UNC games especially would have been fun environments for him to play in. When he made that block against UB to save the game the place would’ve erupted.

GMac as next coach after JB. He seems to be taking the lead on all our top recruits. I’ve listen to all of Devo’s podcasts and surprised not to see one for coach Autry. It seems odd that he has not been included in these podcasts as he is also a potential successors to JB
