Interesting article in the Albany Times Union today.

Gash their top cover guy is moving over to LSM. That tells me Piseno must have been bumped down to close. Seems like an odd decision unless Piseno is hurt but there has been no mention of that.

Based on the information available, I assume Albany's offense looks something like this
Attack - Hogg, Whitcomb TJ Sheehan (Denver Transfer)
Midfield - Pucci, Decker, Unknown

Sounds like the goalie will be Tommy Heller
Beyond Gash an Piseno (assuming he's not hurt) your guess on defensive starters is as good as mine.

Endres seems like he's a go at the X

Surprised you don't have Silas Richmond listed in your depth chart. Oversite or is he not quite ready? Feels like he's been getting some buzz on the message boards. Hogg is a good player and he had himself a good summer playing for the Canadian U-21 team, as a captain. Something about this Albany offense has me nervous. They did average close to 19 turnovers a game last year, so hoping that trend continues.

Defense is anyone's guess as you said. That is surprising they moved Gash up to LSM when they already had Piseno. Would have been nice if the reporter had followed up on that. Maybe with Pepe out for the first month they hold off on that? I feel like Marr has a surprise regarding the lineup up his sleeve.

I suspect Richmond will play but in what capacity, I am not sure. Could see him start at attack or run out of the box or maybe Marr brings him along a little slowly and plays him as the 4th attackmen to start. I know Sheehan has played well for them since transferring and with Whitcomb and Hogg they have attack mostly covered as Pucci an attackmen is already playing midfield. Hard to get a read on what they plan on doing as they played two scrimmages and the second one a lot of backups played. I suspect he may try and ease him into D1 but with Marr you can never be sure.

Marr usually likes to throw a wrinkle or two at SU. 2 years ago they switched up their attack unit and last year he played some middies who got minimum playing time and they scored a few goals.

I don't get moving Gash to LSM at all to be honest unless PIseno is hurt or out for some reason. Even if they moved PIseno to close why would you then move Gash? Something feels off there.

Albany has a few good D pieces but it's hard to see how they can matchup with SU's starting six. SU needs to get the midfield straightened out a bit, need some distance shooters.

Thanks for all the great info! I think the biggest concern for me is that Albany could review the Vermont game film. Gait said in his presser that they will be prepared to make in-game adjustments?? I didn't see many successful adjustments last year or in Desko's final years

From the IL preview:

Graydon Hogg has “raised his play to a new level,” Marr says. He will be the offensive leader. TJ Sheehan is a Denver transfer who Marr recruited in high school. He’s an X-type player who’s skilled and has a high IQ. Freshman Silas Richmond (South Delta, B.C.) is a Canadian who Marr is excited about. He’s a 6-foot-3 finisher who can carry the ball. Camden Hay has worked hard in the fall on his mobility, but he suffered an injury in preseason. Jack Pucci is another big body who had a good fall. There’s also a fluid high-IQ player in Peter Salit and sophomore Parker Emmett, both from Georgia, fifth-year Declan Palandjian, Keelan Seneca, Parker Winkky and Amos Whitcomb. Ben Wimmer is a lefty freshman from Oregon.

With a load of offensive depth. Marr plans to go to a system in which there’s only two-way middie and sub in the fifth and sixth guys.

Thomas Decker scored a hat trick vs. Syracuse last year and could play a traditional two-way role along with Alex Pfeiffer, Jacob Moran and Caeden LaPietro. Darien LaPietro is the top d-middie. Four face-off specialists give a lot more depth, and they’ll usually double pole with Elijah Gash, Sam Hixon-Milks and Jake Piseno.

Gash has moved to LSM in one of the biggest shake-ups of the lineup. He’s one of the best athletes to ever suit up at UAlbany, and Marr hopes that move will unleash the athleticism. Defense is a veteran group, and Marr is excited about 4-star freshman Max Neeson.

Ya sounds like he's gonna play maybe 1 true middie and the rest attackmen. D will need to be ready for a few guys they havent seen before especially Sheehan.

Still dont get the Gash move. SU should have a few advantageous matchups.
