Orange Kick off 2018 with wins and PRs
A pair of victories by Tia Thevenin and the women's 4x100-meter relay team and a few personal bests highlighted the first meet of 2018 for the Syracuse track and field program.
Thevenin kicked off her 2018 campaign strong, with a time of 8.37 seconds to win the 60-meter hurdles. Danielle Delgado was fourth with a time of 8.46 seconds, and Aviana Goode finished ninth in 8.77 seconds.
Delgado and Thevenin then returned to the track to lead the Orange to a victory in the 4x100-meter relay. Along with freshman Alexis Harper and anchored by Kadejhia Sellers, 'Cuse cruised to a mark of 3:48.29 and a win by four seconds over Albany.
In the high jump, Goode was the top collegiate competitor, clearing 1.70 meters
In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Angelo Goss was the top collegiate runner on the men's side, finishing in 7.69 seconds. His mark was good for second, just 0.04 seconds behind 2017 NCAA runner-up Freddie Crittenden III (7.65 seconds). Richard Floyd (8.24/9th), Jamil Adams (8.29/11th), Kelvin Almonte (8.34/13th) and Chevis Armstead (8.37.14th), Andrew Aguilera (8.73/23rd) and David Gilstrap (9.38/27th) rounded out the deep 'Cuse field.
In the 200-meters, Imani Clark also turned in a PR for the Orange, crossing the line in 24.41 seconds, which was good for third – tops among collegiate competitors. Dasia Pressley finished right on her heels in 24.42 seconds, while Victoria Parker finished sixth in 24.75 seconds.
In the men's race, Kashif Miller placed third, racing to a time of 21.74 seconds.
Justice Richardson led off the afternoon with a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter dash. She crossed the line in 7.59 seconds, which is a new personal-best mark.
