Albany

Last second three try rims out, he had a decent look at it. But Albany holds on and meets Stony Brook in the Final!

Vermont lost, Albany still in a battle. Hey CuseFaninVT I hope you had a great birthday whether you went skiing or saw the UVM game. Happy birthday to igor and others too.

Personally I'm really glad Albany will face Stony Brook and not Vermont. The Great Danes beat Vermont twice - but the two teams looked pretty even, hard to see winning three virtual toss-up games in a year. Stony Brook beat Albany, I think that'll help keep the Danes focused on the game better.

Yeah, Stony Brook was the only Am East team to beat Albany. Going to be a good one and both games today were down to the wire.

Was at 2nd half of Albany game - exciting. 11:00 A.M. start for the title next Saturday.

I went to the championship game in '06, was awesome - if you can get tickets, go.

I was riding at Sugarbush today during the game (was offered a ticket, but wanted to get out on a beautiful day). Tough loss by the Cats. They were up big at the half but apparently couldn't score a bucket for much of the second half and gave up 50 or so points. Made it close at the end, but they couldn't catch up. Too bad for the 2 seniors (both of whom transferred in) but they will be pretty good next year. Their one big recruit that was coming in next year probably won't be able to recover from his accident unfortunately so that hurts but I think they have some really good young pieces. The McRoberts kid is fun to watch.

I'm rooting for Albany to win it and challenge one of the bigger schools again.

And thanks for the birthday wishes brother. It was a good day!

Great to hear man. Sorry about the Catamounts, but you picked the right day to ride :)

What a strange conference tournament timetable.

That is strange to have a whole week. Some smaller conferences have gone to a giving the higher seeds home court advantage so there is a day to travel between games. But a whole week is strange for sure.

I think this is the first year they went with the change of venue for the higher seeded teams. UVM, the #1 conference seed, lost last year to Albany, at Albany, in the championship. Albany, as the number 4 team, had a distinct home court advantage as the host school for the tournament. The conference realized this and changed to the current schedule of having the team with the higher seed host.

America East spans from Vermont to Maine to Baltimore. And they don't do chartered planes in this conference. A single day to travel is insufficient to allow the teams the opportunity to put their best feet forward. Don't forget, this is the only chance these teams have of making the NCAA tourney.

As far as the 11 am start, I'm sure that's dictated by ESPN and their "championship week" TV schedule.

I really like giving the higher seeds home court advantage. Mercer has since moved to the Southern Conference but they Atlantic Sun started it when they were there last year. It definitely makes for a more exciting atmosphere at each game and teams that did well in the regular season deserve the advantage.

If you're not a conference that is assured of getting a decent crowd in a neutral site, I don't see any reason not to play games at the higher seeds home court except for more travel.

It's always been that way. ESPN determines the 11AM Saturday morning time for the championship game on ESPN2. That league seldom gets a regular season game on ESPN. If they do, it's on ESPNU. The first part of the tournament is always played the weekend before the Saturday morning championship game.

Bump. Came up short tonight but fought until the end of the game. Great season!

Tough one brother. Just looked smaller out there. They were tough to watch offensively all year, but they play really tough defense.
