BTC Week 8- Coach of the Week- Glen Burnie HS Coach Alec Lemon

Glen Burnie is off to a 5-3 start. This past Friday night win over Severna Park 14-0 secures the first winning season for the Gophers in 20 years. Coach Lemon has turned this program around in just 3 short years. He is described as a coach full of energy and only wants the best for his players. Glen Burnie has quality wins over Severna Park, Meade, Annapolis, City College, and North County. What is the key to his success? Life Lessons, Coach Lemon played football at Syracuse University and spent some time in the NFL with the Houston Texans. Lemon played WR.

Congrats Coach and keep it rolling. The BTC is excited to have him in its membership.

Won that incredible comeback vs. USF in Tampa in 2012 with sliding catch at goal line from Nassib with seconds remaining. We were down something like 21-3 or 24-7 at the half but Marrone's men rallied in the second half. Good times, great memory. I was at the game and had the feeling that we were back finally after the Robinson era.

I've been to Glen Burnie, back when I was in my teens.

Had a 98 yard drive to take the lead if my memory is correct

Good for him. One of my favorites. He wont be mentioned with the greats but he was a reliable player during a time when we really needed it.

Great kid great family. Remember him stopping by one of our tailgates. Glad he’s doing well and doing what he loves.

You know what's crazy, I looked up the box score from that game and it was exactly 10 years ago to the day, 10/27/12. I remember it was breezy and windy, kind of a cold night for Florida (it was a 4pm start I believe). I was underdressed and shivering by game's end. Jason Poles was escorting Floyd Little around all the SYR tailgates and I shook Floyd's hand. Super memories.

Yup, agree with all that. He is the kind of a guy who hope gets into coaching because you know he will make a difference with the kids he coaches.

That HS is lucky to have him, as are the players there.

Anyone still in contact with Alec's father? He was a great guy and great board member to chat with
How do you think I found out about this? ;)

Got to meet him (step father) and his mother at a few games. Great people.
They had a great trip to Peru this summer.

Also got to meet his (biological) father in Atlanta a few times (and once in the Dome).

love this, but the article failed to mention him chest bumping Gross after the game winning wheel route TD against Missouri. bad journalism ;)

That Missouri game was probably the best game from an Orange WR that I can remember seeing. 12 catches 244 yards and two TD's. Caught the game winning TD and made a great catch on 4th and 10 shortly before that.

Good for Alec! One of my favorites, so glad to see his success.

This school puts out decent talent, right? Looks like we just lost out on a TE from there to James Madison (ugh).

I saw on the school's wiki page that it counts three former/current NFL players as alumni: Ezekiel Turner (Cardinals LB - played college ball at Washington), Branden Albert (former Chiefs and Dolphins OL - played at Virginia) and Bill Currier (former Oilers and Giants S - played at South Carolina).
