I remember Bill Hurley as a freshman vs Villanova in 1975. He was the kick off returner. The opening kickoff to open the season hit the ground near Hurley in the end zone. He just stood there looking at it. A Villanova player covered it and scored a TD. (The rules were different back then about having to down the ball or return it.) It was the most basic and insane mistake! After the game Frank Maloney said something to the effect, that if he had a shotgun he would have shot Hurley so he would fall on the ball.

Well, a year later Hurley became the starting QB, and went on to become one of the best QBs ever at SU. He was an Eric Dungey 0.0, but probably ran more and passed less. I don't think most people even remember his FR year mistake.

Damien has time to repair his reputation. Custiss had zero reputation himself until his senior year.
