already cringing at the "melo should come back" posts

One thing to defend him, he's 13th in blocks per game, but 3rd in block%. He's legitimately an outstanding shot blocker. But the bigger part is both the offense and the rebounding. He's not good on the defensive glass, and for a guy with his size and his limited offensive game, even 58% shooting seems a tad low.

He has tremendous potential; he could add 15% to his shooting percentage just by dunking the ball instead of attempting flip shots.

if he goes in the first round (which he WOULD based on a very simple study of recent picks of 7 foot foreigners with ZERO track record, much less a decent one in college), he makes a couple million dollars. that's WORST CASE. he would get a second contract, because he will still be a project at that point.

Fab's worst-case scenario is earning a second contract after three unproductive years because he's a fourth-year veteran "project"?

That's quite a hypothetical.

Deja vu from 2003?

He probably would be better off to stay another year and get better but that doesn't matter. As mentioned he's a 7 foot and atheletic for his size. Just look at BJ Mullins as a comparison:
McDs all american. Absolute bust as a freshman at Ohio st. Still goes pro even though he was not nearly ready. Gets drafted 24th. Sits 2 years and looks like a bust. Now he is playing for a crappy team but he is getting 22 min and averaging 10 pt and 4 rebounds. Good enough to stick around.

I think we can all agree that Fab could at least do that. I expect him to be gone. Hopefully not.
