"Nova was the best FCS team to come to the dome in 30 years."

Hunt's ejection hurt us more than fans realize. Lester coached the 3-3 stack defense and had red zone packages for Hunt that "would have worked" but could not run them with Wilson.

The O Line injuries hurt more than was admitted.

Nova QB Patterson is a third year starter and a pre-season FCS All American. Will play on Sundays.

We had a lot of first time players.

Our D plan worked perfectly as we held them to 17 points in regulation.

Our butt ugly uniforms distracted everyone.

So there!
Go Coppertone!

I have no complaints about the ESPN3 stream last night.

Even the Al Groh part?

Hit it on the head. Nova was much better than people were giving them for, this wasn't Wagner.

Hunt had a few nice plays, got into a rut, and did something stupid. The offense is not nearly as dynamic without him, his job is nowhere near "in jeopardy."

The OL played without a key starter and another starter that is significantly better than the replacement. The OL will be intact for CMU, and that will alleviate many problems on offense.

The defense bent, but didn't break. They were out there for 2/3 of the game. The secondary is suspect, but I think that is due more to the scheme with LBs covering receivers they have no business being responsible for.

This was the first game, SU always seems to start slow. People need to RELAX.

I can cover that...

Had to work really late last night, so couldn't go to the Dome. Decided to take a dinner break around opening kickoff time and hoped that Tully's had the feed . No luck, so I grabbed a burger and went back to the office for a while longer. I managed to get home without finding out anything about the game. I carefully (so I don't accidentally see a scoreboard display or headline at ESPN.com) call up the feed on the computer and it asks for proof of registration. It doesn't recognize my email address to give me my password or anything. The last time I used ESPN3 was when it first came out - I thought I registered then, but maybe it was a free preview. No biggie, I go thru the process and enter the information for Time Warner until I get to the "please wait while we process" circle of doom loading graphic.

It doesn't give any indication of how long it will take to process, but says not to hit the back button or do anything since information could be lost and I'd have to start over. So I wait. And wait. Watched a couple of shows that I had on the DVR and give up for the night and go to bed. When I come down in the morning, the processing thing is still on screen. I decide to clear that out and see if I can open the replay anyway (again trying to avoid seeing any scores and hoping that the result isn't given away on the list of games to select - it wasn't) and I get in!! Alright, I settle down for breakfast and a blowout (I assumed).

The game looked fine and picture quality noticably improved during the opening drive. A little over midway thru the first quarter, a commercial break comes on and I decide to fast forward past it. Big mistake. You have to move the cursor to a later time instead of just speeding it up, and the timebar is very narrow. I over shot a little bit, but moved it back. Unfortunately, the original sound feed continued, plus audio from the later point that I moved to. I tried to align the picture and sound again, but only succeeded in adding additional audio feeds, one of which said "Touchdown!!" A little later, I got to see PTG's long run. I watched the game with audio "in the round" for a bit before getting the idea to just mute it. But turning the audio down on the game screen didn't eliminate the extra sound feeds, so I had to get rid of the full screen view to mute the computer. When I brought it back up, it only gave me a partial screen - looked like they have an option to show multiple games or something. I got the full screen back up, but the picture quality was noticably lower. There was a bar showing video quality and I wondered if I accidently selected the wrong option for my screen. Tried to see if that could be adjusted, wound up in the split screen situation again, then suddenly it zoomed to the end of the feed.

It was frozen with Villanova set up near the goal line and the scoreboard showing SU up by one point in 2OT. No indication that it was the final score - it just looked like they stopped taping with Villanova about to go for the win (or loss). At that point, I just called up the box score and came here for the meltdown.

we will never know what the offense might have done differently with Hunt playing the 2nd half. we were up 17-7 stopped Vill, got bad field position punted and they ran it back and suddenly it was a game and we tightened up everything on offense after that. that also allowed Vill to stay in the 3-4 yd a play mode. if they were down 2 scores they probably end up throwing more and he ran for his life on half his attempts as it was.

Great points! Again comes back to having a back game plan to fit Austin's strengths and weaknesses. No forward thinking game planning to compensate for his strengths clearly showing a lack of planning skill on our OC & HC to compensate for the "what if something happened to TH". And in other post of mine same applies to DC.

I'm more convinced than ever before that it's simply either a lack of coaching experience or planning skill. Here is my hope - I hope it's a lack of experience and not a lack of skill.

I had similar problems trying to get ESPN3 to acknowledge that I was legit after I dropped Time Warner and switched to Verizon FIOS early this summer.

Don't ever forget to try and change your email address at various sites before you drop an ISP provider. They still had my TW email address which I could no longer access. It took me a month to get ESPN to clear me. Same thing happened with a couple of other sites. A web based email like gmail is the way to go. Unless google goes out of business I think I'm safe from now on?
